I won't be shocked if Chavez Jr still doesn't make weight. He has no discipline.

* The best thing in boxing is divisional supremacy
* Catchweight fights do not count when considering divisional supremacy
* They therefore become second-rate, considering the big picture
They are fine for entertainment, but cannot be taken seriously.
If the fight is serious, why do they need a catchweight ?

What do you mean by " matter ", matter to who ?
The only fights that matter relate to divisional supremacy.
Catchweight fights do not relate to divisional supremacy..... so, they do not matter.
Originally posted by Scott9945 View Postand non title fights have always been about the contracted weight rather than the divisional weight, since there is no title at stake.
90% of non-title fights take place at the standard divisional limit.
Catchweights are exceptions, which is why they dont " matter ".

Lets look at it a different way......
Tell me why you think boxing has weight divisions.

There are only two reasons why a fighter would require a catchweight.....
1) he is not good enough to compete evenly with his opponent, because of size differential
2) he is attempting to drain his opponent, to gain an unfair advantage
Neither reason is acceptable.
I dont understand why this is not plainly obvious.
If he is not good enough to compete evenly with his opponent, because of size differential..... then fakk off back to your own division dumba55.
If he is attempting to drain his opponent, to gain an unfair advantage..... then fakk off back to your own division dumba55.
We have 17 divisions today, surely these guys can find one that is suitable?

I'm still waiting to see an action packed showdown between Chavez jr and Canelo. I only have room for one fake "Mexican warrior" who refuses to fight at his real weight

Chavez probably trying to drain Fonfara but I still don't think that will help him. Fonfara puts together a nice set of hard punches.. I think he fought Campillo at 173 and was losing that fight until he stuck Campillo with a body shot and the fight was over.

But what is jnr's real weight ?
The Vera fights were at different weights right ?
IIRC one was something like 172, and the other was renegotiated at the last minute?
What is his real weight now, 168 ?
Is it fair to say that he can no longer make 160? I seem to recall Chavez really struggling, then having some assistance (furosimide, or however it is spelt), when trying to make 160, and that was some time ago......
..... and if he is now having similar problems making 168, is his "real" weight now 175?
no idea.
