Matthysse and Provodnikov - a sad prediction

Both are entertaining fighters and I look forward to this match. But in a way, I predict a sad conclusion. Both are hardhitting and dangerous and the loser will probably have taken enough of a beating to never be the same fighter again. What's more, if Provodnikov loses, his record will be 24 wins, 4 losses. That's sadly enough of a loss percentage for him to lose any relevance among many fans. I think a loss would hurt Provodnikov more than it hurts Matthysse. What are your thoughts? Is there any place left in boxing for the loser of this fight?

I think the fight can end early, before tons of damage is inflicted, if Provo catches Lucas. If he can't hurt Lucas though, you're right, it will be a long brutal battle because I can't see Lucas stopping Provo early. I still think the loser is relevant.

I certainly expect both fighters to get further away from their prime if it becomes a long and violent war.

I see Ruslan clipping Matthyse early and will have a chance to stop him but if the fight goes past the 5th rounds. Matthyse by TKO

provos superior chin will save the day and ill put 30 mill on it. but i doubt either fighter will be the same after this fight, they have both already taken a ton of punishment in previous bouts. maybee provo will be the fresher of the 2 who knows, he has never looked hurt and he took punishment from two light hitting guys

Nah, both will still have options as both have a fan friendly style. Of course stock will drop, but whoever loses will have a chance to redeem themselves.

If this fight is the war that everyone, including me, thinks that it will be then I think the loser has relevance unless he takes some massive, career altering beating. But really I think this is kind of a no-lose fight for both of them. It should be one of the best fights in a long time and if it is, who cares who wins or loses? I think we're passed the point where we're looking at either of them as great and dominant fighters so a lost, on paper, shouldn't hurt too much.

Having 4 losses won't harm Ruslan, Lucas punishing him badly and vice versa might though of course. When you are as entertaining as Ruslan is, it doesn't really matter how many losses you have.

Maidana is another one who's losses, and he has 5 of them won't harm him, he will still get big fights.

I'm going with provodnikov in this one. Between Two power punchers, I always go with the fighter with the better chin.

They signed off on this fight. They know the potential consequences whether it be immediately or eventual, and they will be compensated accordingly, and garner the adulation and praise from fans.I honestly believe that Matthysse will stop Ruslan early,he hits harder,is more accurate, and has better defense.
