Shut that **** down bro, I said the same thing weeks back when the Munroe fight was made, it's ridiculous. They had Munroe as an advance opponent, before the Murray fight had even happened, when you book an advance opponent, book a date and set up purses and sign contracts, it leaves yourself closed off to other fight offers or negotiations.
If GGGs team really want a big fight, as they keep ****ing on about, why waste another month in fighting Munroe? They should have waited for Canelo to get his fight out the way (a guy who has said he'd be willing to fight GGG i the past) or wait to see where Cotto's money takes him next. At least give yourself time to negotiate but by booking fights in advance, those too against no bodies, you're putting yourself in a position to lose out on fight dates.
Why is that happening? Now that's the million pound question.
Like the OP, I'm a GGG fan but I'm not a nuthugger, I've successfully predicted him beating everyone put in front of him and given him credit for the Mack/Murr/Geale wins but beyond that, he has one of the weakest resumes I've seen in any titlist, in any division, who has so many defences.
There's something amiss here...HBO is green lighting no bodies like Stevens and Munroe but they don't want to make fights with known commodities? I don't buy that for a second. Which leads to one of two explanations:
A) They are building towards a GGG v Ward PPV on HBO, but with Ward's lack of wanting to box, it's thrown a spanner in the works.
B) GGG has shown weakness in camps and sparring, such as resilience and/or chin and HBO want to milk him as much as possible before they feed him to a legitimate fighter, whoever that may be (I'm thinking Ward/Froch).
P.S.
I will say that Cotto is scared stiff of the GGG image and wants none of that, then again that's not saying much as he conned the MW crown from a hobbling champ.

Which known commodity has HBO passed on? They're not making peace with Haymon over Lara who's a 154er, bad TV, a big letdown in his big opportunity, and a no hoper vs GGG.

Edwin was also 1.5 yrs ago, when the relationship was less strained, what with Stevenson and Haymon's serious power moves. You think it's an accident there hasn't been a Haymon fighter on HBO for 1.5 years?

GGG shouldnt be having pre-booked fights multiple times a year, activity is good but it should be quality activity. My point is this: They should at the very least have waited for other fighters schedules to clear up. BIg fights, the caliber of the ones GGG supposedly wants, don't happen over night, they take months of negotiations and re-negotiations, booking yourself up for another couple months doesn't help the situation.
Mark my words, one of the two situations I suggested will unfld in the next 12-18 months.

GGG is being engineered as the star, not the second fiddle.

The fact that they made an exception for Dibella means they'll make exceptions for the benefit of people they work with. And they'll make an exception for K2 to fight a Haymon fighter if he pushes it.
