GGG has been trying to establish himself in the U.S. and get the big fights. He's only been fighting here for 2.5 years, and has fought a whopping 9 times! Your boy Cotto has fought 4 times during the same period. GGG's opponents all have good records. The thing is, he's KO'ing nearly everyone who does fight him. Hence the fear of him & his offer to fight anyone from 154-168. The only big name I can recall who actually called him out was Ward, who is above Golovkin's weight class. I get your hint that Golovkin didn't challenge Martinez for his belt, but if he had been the cripple that he was against Miguel, Gennady would have wiped the floor with him too.

If/when Cotto's announcement is that he's fighting GGG, then he'll get big props. Until then, it will be easy to speculate that he'll either have an underweight fighter come up, or fight another absolute bum like Rodriquez.

Gennady was trying to unify back when Sergio was the champ, and Martinez ducked him, too. Stop living in denial and just admit that your hero caught the tiger by the tail, and now he's afraid to let go.

And for the record, I don't think anyone regards Golovkin as the greatest MW ever, but he has the potential to be. At least he doesn't act like boxing is nothing but a money-making scheme. There was a time when proving you were the best was what really mattered, but that mentality is becoming rare.

There is nobody left out there that is going to make it newsworthy. It is just going to be another fight with the massive contract that he signed.
