RIP Brayd but AMA needs to understand that fighters willingly enter the ring, knowing beforehand the risks they will take when they decide to "play" boxing.

That has absolutely no significance on the outcome whats so ever, just boils down to the individual. RIP Brayd Smith but he would have died in a car crash where most would have survived.
Well, the better you are defensively the less damage your brain takes because you avoid more shots? Idk that's just my assumption lol

I think of Bradley because he usually doesn't get caught clean because he's always twisting himself.

        Fear not:

Honestly, if boxing gets universally threatened to get banned and more and more people start calling for it and it's not only one country wanting it; I know i'm gonna get **** for this by couch warriors, but make 10oz gloves for 147lbs and down, 12oz gloves for 154-175, 14oz for CW's and HW's. No need to ban it, just make it safer. There's nothing uncool about slightly bigger gloves. Who cares about what is tough or what is being "p*ssy" or whatever name calling these brute boxing fans want to say. I like boxing as a sport and if KO's decrease because of bigger gloves, but also brain injuries, slurred speech, and deaths decrease as well then let's do it.
2oz larger gloves isnt going to prevent concussions. in fact youre adding more total mass to the fist making the object youre striking with even more dangerous

the only positive to bigger gloves is that it makes the knuckles less likely to be felt on the opponent but CTE isnt even about that. its about the brain moving around inside the skull. concussions happen with headgear. why? because the skull is still being moved too quickly for the brain to stabilize itself.

I live in the area and Braydens dad, Brendan, is one the largest and most active boxing promoters around here and is responsible for Michael Katsidis climb to fame. Im sure Brayd would not want boxing banned and neither would his family but can anything ever assuage the grief that the loss of a child can do to a parent? My heart goes out to the family. R.I.P. Brayden.

Make the gloves small like MMA
That way fighters will be knocked out easier resulting fewer blows to the head causing brain damage

Actually there was a big outcry and calls for banning horse racing. But. Ironically. The calls come from ANIMAL activists because the horses also get hurt and are sometimes put down.

Smaller gloves and more KO's doesn't mean boxing will be safer. The number of boxers that will die in the ring and suffer from brain damage after their career will be pretty much the same.

Boxing is a dangerous sport and will always be a dangerous sport. I hate when countries start talking about banning boxing. It's should be up to you to decide if you're willing to take that risk

Animals are unwilling participants though, so I'd say fair enough.

Combat sports is a bit different where its one guy trying to hurt another guy, compared to skydiving etc where an accident incurs a death.

Still both boxers are willing participants, I think if anything is a problem, sanctioning orgs should be tougher on promoters overmatching opponents. Salka-Garcia is a fight that should never have happened as a famous example, but there are much, much worse fights every year where a very limited boxer is sent in to receive a certain KO.

Fair enough if prospects are slowly building up opposition as they make their way up the rankings but this is only a fraction of those fights.
