Considering Roy never fought Rocky or Michalczewski we never got to see him against a power punching LHW, well there was Tarver. But if Lou Del Valle was able to clock RJJ, Kovalev could've done much better.
And LMAO, people saying RJJ stops Kovalev. We're not talking about an old Hill or McCallum or a guy like Clinton Woods, Telesco, Harmon, Hall, or Harding.Comment

All it would take would be one shot and Roy is out cold. He wasn't a huge puncher at 175, so I doubt he could really stop Sergey. Roy would be scared to engage and either win by UD or get knocked out cold.Comment

Where Pasqual failed was in landing one good shot at a time. Roy would land 3-4 clean shots with power and that would have put Kovalev in retreat mode. Plus, Roy would have been destroying his body with his left hooks downstairs. If Pasqaul was able to string together combinations when he stopped Kovalev in his tracks, he would have probably made the final bell.Comment

Why didn't Roy do that with the many inferior fighters he faced at 175? He was more of a one punch at a time fighter, and Sergey doesn't give many second opportunities because he actually uses his legs and avoids a second shot.Where Pasqual failed was in landing one good shot at a time. To play devil's advocate, Del Valle was Roy's sparring partner so he knew Roy better than most of his opponents and he was a lefty to boot. I think Roy even said he had apprehensions because of their familiarity with one another.Comment
