I wasn't a fan of Pascal going in, but my respect meter for him went way up, like off the charts up after he hung in there after being basically done (or at least appeared to be) after the 3rd. It was simply incredible that he not only made it deep into the 8th, but also rallied at times during.

But...dude. Fight was curtains. Pascal was cooked. If the ref says f**k it and just lets it go on Pascal might have very well gotten killed in that state. He couldn't protect himself, couldn't even f**king walk to the corner without stumbling like he had just swigged a 5th of vodka, and he had an angry out for blood (as Kovalev put it after, he wanted to see Pascal in a "deep sleep"...damn!) Sergey Kovalev after him.

Stopping it was the only option at that point.

i think i understand pascal disappointment. i know pascal was hurt but i think he still have 20-25% gas left and he did made great comeback after that brutal 3rd and 4th round.

i'm kinda 50/50 on referee decision

Lopez on the other hand was on the canvas hurt not once but twice in the round. Does it really matter about the other rounds? He wasn't hurting Berto. Whether you want to admit it or not, there might just be a little might be bias here.
Sometimes a standing tko is more justified than a 2kd stoppage, see Corrales Castillo. I don't care about the Lopez stoppage, bit early,, he was getting stopped but was up on the cards and didn't take much damage before getting dropped first. Pascal took a lot of cumulative damage. He was in bad shape after the kd, but clock ran out. At the end his legs were all over the place. He couldn't stand straight and was a sitting duck

Lol... right. Just because Froch went 1-1 with Kessler doesn't mean he could hang with Kovalev. We'd find out how "granite" Froch's chin really is...

Pascal was pretty much KO's at the end of the 4th. Kovalev's corner told him to take his time and that they had him where they wanted him. I think Kovalev just let Pascal gas himself in 5 & 6 so that he could finish him off. It was a good strategy more than it was rally by Pascal. He just wasn't up to Kovalev's level....not by a long shot and now he's just talking through his ass and trying to promote himself.

I respect the heart Pascal showed to keep fighting after getting brutalised early in the fight, but he's deluding himself. He'd taken enough and could've gotten seriously hurt if allowed to carry on. Kovalev is a beast.

I was well entertained watching that fight. Pascal got his attention a bunch of times with his punches.

Plus you see that Pascal will not quit and is the type of opponent that is not afraid of Kov.

If you see the options that are left out there this fight would make sense in the near future
