Even if they did fight, it would be around 157 catch weight and if Cotto were to win, the excuses will pour in with weight. Being the middle weight champ isn't saying much because the middle weight div is trash. Move up and become a champ, that would be more impressive.
Or you could tell your boy Cotto to vacate/stop being a paper champ and GTFO out of the division. How bout that?

TWO different things. You like shiny belts because they turn you on... For Cotto, the shiny MW belt is LEVERAGE.
Leverage to do what? or to face whom? If he is not holding the belt hostage please enlighten me what his plans are with the belt.

The guy is a tragedy waiting to happened. And if not for his latest arrest, he'd still hold some ridiculous belt. And ridiculous, fanatical dumbasses like you would be talking about how great an accomplishment it would be for GGG to beat him and take his belt. GTFOH with that bull****.
Jermaine Taylor is out of the game and I was highly critical of his being permitted to fight. It would have been a tragedy if he had faced GGG in the ring as he most likely would have gone out in a body bag. Fortunately, that will never happen as he will never hold a title again and hopefully will never fight again period.

But as damaged as Taylor was, he probably would have lasted longer in the ring with GGG than Cotto would if he ever grew the balls to try. And I am sure that if he was still around, Cotto would avoid him like all other middleweights.

As for your argument regarding title holders, that is why we all want GGG to unify the titles. This way the division will have a genuine champion, a fighting champion, a worthy champion. Not some undersized fighter from a lower division who lacks the courage to defend his title against the best in the world.

maybe he's talking about trying to justify the 16000000 price tag. Cotto should easily be able to get that fighting smaller foes who move up for an opportunity to make a name for themselves.. That might be the leverage he's talking about ??

And your right for once Peasant, Cotto doesnt care about the shiny belt or the belt at all for that matter because if he did he would defend it like a True Champion does. The belt used to mean something and you used to be able to call yourself a world champion because you fought all comers in the top 10 and could say to the world they were the best. Now as you stated Cotto one of the "So Called" Champions chooses not to fight even after 9 months has no opponent lined up and outprices himself from anybody with a name less known as his own. Disgraceful and Distasteful is what it is.

OK homie. I've had enough of your long-winded posts that say absolutely nothing. If beating the Lee-Quillen and N'Dam-Lemiuex winners are the stuff of what you call greatness, so be it. In my mind, beating the Geales and Murrarys, and even the Rubio and Macklins of the world already established him as tops in the division. Because Geale and Murray are better than anyone with a belt. Or anyone fighting for a belt. But you already know that. None of this is about any of the bull**** you been yap'n. You just wanna see GGG fight guys you know he'll beat so this wet dream you, and those like you are on can continue.

No matter who he beats, without titles it means nothing. Records are remembered. Titles are remembered. If he sets the longest title defense streak, it will be remembered. The longest KO streak? Remembered. Become the unified, undefeated champion? It will be remembered. Beat any individual fighter? Just another line in his resume.

Ward without his Super 6 tournament is just another boxer.

People here may like to say that the titles mean nothing, but they are wrong. They have always been important and always will be important. You may not feel the same way, but no one is going to remember what you think, or what I think, in 10 years. Damn... no one really cares what we think NOW.

What title was on the line the night Manny Pacquiao beat the piss outta DLH? What title was on the line when he starched Ricky Hatton? Matter of fact, what title was on the line in the first Barrera fight, which was his coming out party? Was there ever an official title on the line in any of his three fights with Erik Morales? The night JMM knocked him cold, there was no title on the line. So according to your ridiculous logic, most of Manny's career won't be remembered or cared about. Because the majority of his major bouts weren't for official titles.

NOBODY is stepping up to fight GGG and because Cotto has a belt, somehow Cotto is the ONLY possible opponent for GGG. Somehow, beating Cotto, will make GGG an idol. Who but casual fans, would respect a victory over little past prime Cotto? If GGG needs Cotto to become the "man..." The same Cotto that, as per the kids here, is overrated and "lost all his big fights," then maybe GGG is not all that.
