Berto fought for the wba interim belt that thurman just had before being upgraded to regular champ. Either berto will fight thurman next or it will be porter vs berto for a shot at thurman.

Or they're doing danny garcia vs berto to line the winner up for thurman.

Why would you set up Danny Garcia vs Keith Thurman, when you could keep those guys on separate paths, keep both guys busy with other fights, and then blow things off with a massive Thurman-Garcia PPV later on?

Thurman chases the WBA (Maidana/Berto/Porter/etc) Garcia chases the WBC (Lopez/Guerrero/Khan/etc), and Kell Brook works the IBF (Marquez/Khan/etc). Once things start to run their course, likely come 2017, you run the unification fights at 147, likely on PPV.

Thurman's likely got two fights left for the year, one of which hopefully being a fight with Marcos Maidana or Amir Khan.
