People are quick to blast Al Haymon for making mismatches but jump through hoops to defend this one.

A **** fight is a **** fight. Just because you like the guy that's fighting doesn't mean you have to defend everything he does.
Who's he supposed to fight? Just looking at the boxrec top 20, he's beaten Murray, Geale, and Rubio. Cotto and Quillin won't fight him, and Quillin's fighting Lee's anyway. Lemieux and N'Dam are fighting for the IBF belt. Jermain Taylor is incarcerated/insane. Sergio is shot. Soliman was on one leg against Taylor. Eubank Jr just lost to Saunders. And Saunders is waiting for the winner of Lee v Quillin.

He literally just fought and he's fighting in two months time. On that timeline the likes of Willie Monroe will be in the mix. It's not a good fight. But anyone trying to claim the likes of Heiland represent vastly better opposition is either deluded or full of shit.

maybe because they are different circumstances? haymon has a huge stable of fighters that he could match against each other but he doesn't. his fighters have also turned down huge paydays against good fighters in order to fight lesser fighters. in the case of ggg he actually tried to fight better guys like froch, chavez jr, quillin, cotto, and martinez but they wouldn't fight him. so its pretty much the opposite. should ggg just not fight? he could wait around for these guys to step up and fight him but why would he be passive when he could be active and put the pressure on them.

Why can't he move up? All of the great fighters of today's era moved up and had tremendous success.

How about a tuneup against the #18 Super Middleweight to prepare for a fight with a top 10 168 fighter later this year?

He's taking a stay busy fight against a southpaw to prepare for Andy Lee should he beat Quillin. Are you excited about GGG vs. Lee?

Do you really want to see all of this talent and potential defeat a resume of Martin Murray, Willie Monroe, Andy Lee, Daniel Geale, Adama, Rubio and Stevens during the prime years of his career?

                • This is just how boxing is people, GGG is to much risk for guys like Cotto or Canelo. Why fight a young strong solid fighter for peanuts..when you can take an easier fight with a bigger name and make big money. Cotto paid his dues, if he chooses not to fight Cotto I would give him a pass. GGG just needs to hang in there clean out the division and eventually he will get a big fight once he becomes more popular. Its a business its all about the $$$$$. And I am not sold yet on GGG, He is an offensive machine has real power but he has not been tested. Kid Chocolate would of been a nice fight to gauge him, to see how good he really is.

If Cotto relinquishes the belts and GGG unifies we will criticise him not moving up.
