What makes a fighter start off slow?

It's interesting how some fighters jump in the ring ready to rock n roll but others need a few rds before their warmed up. Even Floyd has been known to start off slow. Is this all strategy? Lack of prefight warm up? over-confidence or relaxed? Is there anything a fighter can do to come out crisp?

Either way Ive seen 2many fights where a guy gives away to many beginning rds to come on strong late & lose a close decision

It's just like anything else in life. Whether it be sports, or a mother**ker in the office getting ready to work a 9 to 5 from his cubicle. Some people start fast, while others take some time before getting warmed up and in the zone.

Now there's definitely fighters who purposefully take the first round or 2 off as they figure the opposition out, and to get some timing down, but I think a lot of dudes are just naturally slow starters and it's take them a few exchanges before getting warmed up and really ready to go.

Intellect makes a fighter start slow... because he wants to analyze things first before committing to a set of actions or procedures.....

But some are even more intellectual and start very fast.
