JMM was a terrible example for Floyd to use. I guess he had to since it was the only like opponent that he beat more convincingly than Pac.

I agree that styles make fights but what is interesting is that you Manny fans don't really use that logic when it comes to Floyd v. Manny. You use the styles make fights rule when it comes to Floyd v Marquez or Manny v. Marquez or Manny versus anyone else but not when it comes to Floyd against Manny.Pretty much. The worst possible style for Marquez is Floyd- a small counter puncher facing a bigger counter puncher. Forced Marquez to fight in a way he wasn't used to, being the aggressor. Styles make fights, which is why Manny has outperformed Floyd against all of their common opponents except JMM.
If you guys admit that the reason Manny struggled against Marquez is because Marquez is a counter puncher and the reason why Manny dominated other opponents is because they were aggressive. What makes you think Manny can beat a bigger, faster, counter puncher in Mayweather?
If Floyd's size, speed, and style made for a terrible matchup for Marquez what makes you think it won't be a terrible matchup for Manny, Someone who is known to struggle with counter punching?Comment

JMM walked thru hell and back to land those punches he did on Pac. He took risks that Floyd will never take. You cant beat Pac being a passive counterpuncher. You have to bring it to him while he's bringing it to you. The question is, will Floyd bring it or will he play it safe?Comment

Don't try to talk logic with these rabid Pacquiao fans, man. It's not worth the headaches.Comment

Pacquiao couldn't "leave it at that" if he wanted to. he didn't "give" Marquez a damn thing. all the matches happened because there was never a definitive winner. you say manny won the 2nd fight, i say he lost 115-113.What if Pac only faced him once? Or gave him the rematch and left it at that? I had Pac winning the first 2 and losing the 3rd and obviously 4th.
Floyd's win over Marquez was a cheap win. He cheated him on the scales AFTER he made him climb up 2 weight classes to face him.
Do you think a guy like Cotto or Maidana who gave tough fights would be able to beat Floyd if Floyd gave them 4 attempts to do so?
manny winning that fight wasn't a unanimous opinion among boxing writers and boxers who scored the fight. just look at these scores

manny never gave a rematch, he was forced to by public demand.. just like when floyd fought castillo, some say he lost, some say he won , the public made them fight again. same thing with maidana.
i have marquez winning the pacquiao series 3-1 only loss i gave him was fight one because three knockdowns in one round was just too deep a hole to climb out of.Last edited by elishua F; 03-12-2015, 02:31 PM.Comment

ok cool... im not talking about the toothache... thats late 06/early 07.... im talking about late 2009... This was BEFORE ANY fight was made (with berto if thats the one you are referring to). Floyd announced his fight with JMM on may 2, 2009. Andre Berto just finished fighting Juan Urango on may 30th, 2009. Mosley just beat plasterito on january 2009. So if floyd already announced his fight with JMM on may 2nd, which was "confirmed". How can mosley have a fight "lined up"?Comment

Yes that and the fact that they were all worse versions than that ones Floyd fought!Pretty much. probabley because pacquiao actually has advantages over mayweather, physically and stylistically, marquez and mayweather are also not comparable at all, marquez is always actively defending i.e with punches, he doesn't cover up, doesn't even have a guard to speak of except for some parrying, mayweather shells up, this is a fact that has been proven on numerous occassionsI agree that styles make fights but what is interesting is that you Manny fans don't really use that logic when it comes to Floyd v. everyone knows floyd is bigger than pacquiao, floyds fans will tell you that pacquiao will have a hard time dealing with floyds length, but again, unlike marquez vs floyd, pacquiao will have his advantages vs floydComment
