Comments Thread For: DeGale To Dirrell: Prepare Yourself, I am Coming For You!

James DeGale says he is very confident he will defeat Andre Dirrell and become world champion this spring, despite having to fight in the United States.

The duo are to square off for the vacant IBF super middleweight belt and Dirrell’s team won the purse bid for the fight on Tuesday, with DeGale’s promoter Eddie Hearn missing out.

However, the 29-year-old DeGale says he has proved throughout his career that he can win on hostile terrain.

“It went to purse bids, that means any promotional company can bid for it,” he told Sky Sports. “Eddie Hearn sadly lost the bid, so it looks like I am going to have to go to America now to fight for a world title.

The nearer this fight gets, the more excited I am about it. The level of raw skill will be off the charts (kinda like Rigondeaux-Donaire or Khan-Alexander), but hopefully there'll be some good action as well. At least they're both southpaws, so the risk of head clashes should be minimised.

I predict DeGale's sneaky power and awkward punching angles will win the fight. I'm impressed that he's really sitting down hard on his shots since the groin surgery. Dirrell's straight left is an excellent weapon too, but he waits around too much for the perfect opening. DeGale is busier.

I'm pretty confident that DeGale takes it. Dirrell hasn't been the same guy since the Abraham fight.

              I like how you think.

This will be a treat for the boxing purists who can appreciate skill.

I haven't seen Dirrell in real serious trouble so far and the blatant Froch robbery doesn't change that for me...Anyway I'm exited about this one...
