Remain calm. Keep your eyes on him at all times, your natural instincts are going to want to make you close your eyes... If you do you can't see the punches coming and can't counter, fight the urge.

Most people at the lower levels (not sure what level you are on) throw predictable combos once you've figured out the pattern start throwing the counter for his next punch ... You don't even need to necessarily land (it would help) but once he realizes you are punching with him and countering well he will back off...

Don't be afraid to clinch or smother his work either... It's not pretty but the idea is to make it difficult if he intends on landing nothing free, MAKE THEM PAY!

      Become a slugger.

You need to land big heavy shots on them and gain respect.

I always had the natural tendency to use the jab, keep distance, move alot laterally, and carefully select power shots.....when someone does it better than you do, its tough to go against your nature and start pressing forward.

            Bull Fighter!

Center Of The Ring, Circle Him, Turn Him...TIME HIM! If you're really good work off the backfoot and just let him walk into counters and be ready to catch him with Big Shots.

Study Juan Manuel Marquez, his style is excellent vs Swarmers especially the Katsidis fight. Yeah he got clipped and dropped with a left hook from Katsidis but still had a good strategy to deal with Katsidis relentlessness!

A lot of Swarmers are not that good inside fighters, they want to jump on you but they also need their spacing to get off their punches so you can also get inside and smother their WORK and take away/slow down their swarming

First line of defense is a jab and lateral movement

                If they get inside that

Second line of defense is a check hook and step off

If they get inside that and are in your chest

Third line of defense is the right uppercut, short left hook and step off n circle

A good jab, especially if you double n triple it on occassion and jabs to the body will slow down and disrupt your opponents attack

It depends on what type of fighter you are. Play to your strengths.

You can't be something you are not.

                    This is good advice.

Instructions need to be simple and understood

There's no point telling the guy to throw specific shots when it might not be the guys best punch

You should be able to jab

                    Maintain your distance
                    Establish your jab
Let him walk onto hard shots

Swarmers do not fight at range, they naturally want to get close to you

The hard shots you throw are what work for you.

Watch the Tyson Lewis fight, from the opening bell Lewis follows the 3 principles

Watch how long it takes Tyson to stop swarmng, the shots that hurt him he walks onto.

It's a good example as Tyson is one of the greatest swarmer types of all time.

As the fight unfolds Lewis who was considered the boxer is referred to as the puncher.... he just followed the 3 principles

From early on he's unable to clinch

step 1: stay away from internet message boards
step 2: ask a real trainer
