Will be surprised if TO can make 168, even more surprised if he can trouble Ward. It's true that it's not a great opponent, but Ward wasn't going to face the toughest tier of opposition in his first fight back. As for why he picked TO, we all know that having an undefeated record and having been on TV before means you sometimes get opportunities like this.

Ward hasn't fought any live body for 3 and a half years, fights exclusively in his homecountry, fails to fight his mandos etc. And now he has made a depressed LHW an offer. You like it. I dont. I think it's lame.
Battling Nelson is tearing Dirk a new one here.

Dirk is defending the indefensible...next Dirks goib to argue that Ward is the number 1 ranked Super middle, oh wait, he already did.....

And why are you defending it? I cannot understand the crush you have on Ward.
There's no legitimate source that says he turned down any offer to fight Kessler. Your wet dreams are not a legitimate source.

I'm sure Ward has been looking for an opponent for a while now so Oosthuizen might have been scoped out a long time ago - before the situation with Froch and the WBA arose. The Froch fight is now obviously an option

I don't really care who Ward's comeback opponent is because there's going to be no one elite available for it (unless they agree the Froch fight) so Oosthuizen is fine.

It doesn't really matter, it's a throwaway fight to prepare for something bigger. Ward will be back and you'll continue to cry about those dreams of yours he shattered.

Since you clearly dont follow boxing very closely, then let me reveal that it was actually Andre Ward himself.

So you are claiming that the Oosthuizen offer was made before Froch was ordered? Well the article is newer, so it's not likely. Maybe you have a source to back it up?

I'm not claiming anything. I'm using reasoning and logic. You have been blubbering for months that Ward wants too much money for tune-ups. Oosthuizen has probably been sounded out as a potential opponent for a while.

I assume you have a source to back up this Kessler fight offer?

Oosthuizen might not even beat Liebenberg, who was trounced by Storm Alvarez. But the point is, these guys are all LHWs and Oosthuizen is known to struggle with the SMW limit, the guy is 6'4.

I'd say the reason they're interested in this fight is that unlike Sartison or Periban, Oosthuizen is probably HBO approved.

What led to his promoter cutting him was being overweight:

He was subsequently released by his promoter Rodney Berman, who cited the fact that Oosthuizen was at least 13 pounds over the 175 lb. limit for the bout; stating, "He's had so many chances and blown every one"

Mark my words, Ward will beat Kovalev and Golivkin if they ever meet and then people will be demanding that he moves up to cruiserweight.
Ward needs to fight man, the notion that he could just drop back in and beat top active fighters is optimistic.
