Everyone should have known him after the izzy Vasquez fight... That was a classic

Up until the 7th or 8th round, Vasquez was getting his ass handed to him. Jhonny controlled the distance so perfectly for the first half of the fight and worked behind an excellent jab. He landed some vicious left hooks off his jab feints and had Vasquez on noodle legs a few times. What a classic fight at an extremely high level of skill.

I would have killed to see that too my friend. Rafa hit like a fckng truck so I doubt Jhonny would survive but it would have been another classic fight on Jhonny's resume.

It's an excellent piece and really gives you some interesting insight on how Vasquez rates Rafael's power to Jhonny's skills as well as other great fighters. Gary Russel has to be the only boxer I know who gets two undeserved title shots after beating not one top ten a opponent in his entire career.

I hope Gonzo knocks him out just so he can't make claim to being a world champion.

Very underrated classic fight. Gonzalez moving up in weight made Vazquez look ordinary. A beautiful techniqual display from Jhonny, but Vazquez was a junkyard dog who never let up and eventually cracked Jhonny's chin and overshadowed what would have been a masterful performace.

One of the most bizarre corner stoppages I've seen.

Jhonny is an overrated bum who got lucky against Mares. Russel Jr. will expose him as the face first brawler he is, he will KO him with his powerful combination punching and send Jhonny back home empty handed. Russel JR. has the skillset that only very few fighters posses in the sport, strictly limited to fighters like Floyd Money May, AB, Rigondeaux, Lara and so forth.

I laugh at how easy this will be for Russel, he will KO that overrated bum in 3.
