Failure in the making. There isn't as much money in boxing as they would believe.

If they want to be promoters, they should promote fights.

There's no knowing if they have a chance to make it until they show they can actually put a good product out there -- can they rent an arena (or make a deal for a site fee for one), sign an attractive card of bouts, advertise and market it, draw a big crowd and pull it off?

Just having money doesn't mean they can make it as boxing promoters.

I seem to remember 50 Cent signing fighters, sitting around and doing nothing, then complaining because HBO or Showtime wouldn't just hand over a bunch of money to put his fighters on TV. Like that's all there is to it.

You have to prove yourself as a promoter -- signing fighters is just the first step. You have to show them that you can then put them in meaningful fights and make those fights into big events and get them on TV and/or PPV ... and to do this you have to build a track record that proves to the HBOs and Showtimes that you're worth dealing with.

If Roc Nation wants a seat at the table, they need to prove themselves as promoters.

This is "KutThroat" ass boxing......how many times have we seen some guys with money and a big checkbook try to come into boxing and lose money then go MIA

Only time i can think of somebody just jumping into boxing and having success as a promoter "long Term" was Don KIng.....but he had the devil on his side

I think that as well. We'll see, but I don't think it will work because of how ****ed up the business is.

I doubt that rumour is true, the amount Cotto is getting won't even be half that but it'll be more than what TR were giving him. I think Rocnation are looking to buy champions and divisional names, issue is, if they can't have a working relationship the other major promoters, then they'll have a problem putting together great fights and shows.

Back to Cotto, the guy has a max 12-18 months left at this level, I wouldn't bother signing him, unless they are sure a massive fight can come out of it and the only one that justifies a big price tag is Canelo.
