James Degale: "George Groves Turned Down £2 Mill ($3.1 Mil) And Ducked Me!"

I heard a Sky Toe to Toe podcast from last month featuring Degale - he says Groves actually turned down £2 million pounds (about $3.1 million dollars) for a fight with him. Groves was guaranteed that purse and he turned it down!

Sounds odd. If true, then maybe Groves reckons that the fight will be worth a lot more at some point later in time.

      A binnis decision.

              Old news.

Groves would rather get knocked out for 250k in some American bingo hall by Anthony Dirrell. He's a very stubborn deluded ugly kid

Groves believes he's well beyond DeGale and see fighting him as a backwards step. Either way, the fight will happen again, hopefully as a unification.

                  lol..

personally i think he values being world champion more than money and knows his limitations. he figures if he gets knocked out by anthony dirrell and degale beats andre, he can get a fourth (!) title shot just because degale wants to avenge that loss so bad he would still make the fight.

just my opinion though. it wont matter though, i dont see groves beating any titleholder (nor do is see degale beating andre dirrell).

Same mindset as Khan, same mindset with Cotto. They know the likes of DeGale, Brook & Alvarez will always be there and still be lucrative matchups regardless of what happens to them in the meantime. Those matchups present the perfect cashing-in point as they'll all lose and be forced on the long road back after they do lose.

It's a pretty gay mentality but as is often pointed out - both by fanboys and the boxers themselves - bahxin' idda bidniss.
