5 million buys at $50 per ticket is just $250 million.
The increase in number of sales for a cheaper ticket won't be enough to justify dropping the price for a huge event. These people do this stuff for a living and are well aware of how to price it.Comment

Great, except 3 million buys at $90 per ticket is $270 million.

I regularly joke with people at work who they think will win whatever fight is coming up. 95% of the time they don't know what I'm talking about. Best case scenario they know the names Pacquiao or Mayweather but didn't know off the top of their head that they were fighting that weekend. I live in south Texas and even Canelo vs Mayweather wasn't like this. I don't know what to expect from this fight but under 2.7 would probably be considered a failure, which is funny. They have the world in their hands. I assume fight week will ramp up the promotion.Comment

I could see it both ways.
On the one hand, illegal streams may cause people turned off by the price tag to go that route.
On the other hand they will get a ton of free press during fight week and many people will get caught up in the hype.Comment

To be honest I can see this fight doing nearer to 4 million over in USA. Been hyped up for years hence the lack of a press tour. People that don't know anything about Boxing that day will purchase the fight just to be part of the hype/history. Now include the casual American fans as well as dedicated Mexican and Pinoy/Asian community. Social media is (going to/has made) a different ball game with events of this magnitude.Comment

You do know that during 2010 we were in the middle of a recession. The economy is better now and people have a little more disposable income. Especially after Tax Season. It's a perfect time to have it.Comment
