It's not (normally) used against southpaws, it is just as simple as that.

It's neither an advantage nor a disadvantage: different stance, different mechanics, different counters.

Probably Floyd will be constantly keeping his left foot on the outside , trying to have Manny leap in with his jab-jab- left hand combo when out of position, and -then- counter with his straight right (over a left).

Disagree, u only need light training weeks before.

Overtraining is overhyped but u need to peak at the right time.

If u reach peak condition midway through camp (I suspect Floyd has been lately) u reach a ceiling where the only way is down.

That's probably where Ariza will help.

secondly imagine this scenario. manny feints his jab, floyd tried to pull counter to throw his right hand nd sticks his head out like he usually does to pull counter nd manny throws a left down the pipe. (ala maidana endof 3rd rd)

lastly, im glad all them crackheads in his camp will be shamed for all the shtt talking while free basing crack pipes they did about manny. time to show these crack rocks, bring the fight to they front door

Floyd is not dumb, not once has he pulled a right counter off a jab on an opponent that fast. He times his jab off their lead and cuts them off. He does this when his opponents are faster than him and it's dead obvious. Stop the dumb hate. And Maidana landed that shot at the end of the 3rd because he set it up. Maidana is not ****** he can box, he just isn't very fast and throws punches like a squid.

This right here, I would bet my bottom dollar Floyd keeps that angle and forces Manny to have to leap in with his lead and catch him with his longer arms.

Floyd could keep his distance and circle to Manny's left and limit his offence to hooks he can catch with his glove and just shoot the jab.

Floyd, working extremely hard as always. His work ethic is second to none in boxing.

I'm trying to figure out what this "volume punching" is all about...

Manny does not throw a lot of punches to the Margarito or Paul Williams level. He can do flurries of up to six at a time, but that won't work against Floyd unless he connects on the first 2...

...which will be a feat in itself...

just curious... wouldn't moving to Manny's left? make him an easier target for Manny's straight left? even looping left (hatton)...

My guess was move to Manny's right.. keep your foot on the outside, clinch when Manny manages to get on the inside and use every last inch of that ring.. which I'm going to assume will be a huge ring..

In my opinion.. I think volume punching is meant to say that when Manny "shells" someone up? He throws very good, and a lot of punches.. Which I have seen the tendency in Mayweahter to depend too much on that philly defense, he's not as fast and can't dodge them like he use too.. I'm guess he's gonna find that out first time Manny can somehow corner him.. then he's probably gonna go to moving and jabbing and trying to pot shot.. But I think he'll eventually have to trade, cause Manny's ability to time fighters is vastly underrated

I give him credit for that... but you have to see him as another Kobe... I think his work ethic is just above... 82 games to 72 mins..

Too bad father times catches up with you eventually!!
