Golovkin vs. Murray Channel 5 (UK) Ratings

I can't remember who showed Murray's last couple of fights. He's not that big a name here.Murray hadnt had his last fights screened on the channel had he ? If he could have generated some interest in a run up maybe figures would have been much better. If Murray can rebuild his career on the channel and grab another title shot I expect figures would be much better.
Having said that, James Degale drew double the number of viewers fighting Hadillah Mohoumadi.
Kid Galahad headlines shows which did more which is even more startling.
I don't know where you've come up with that from. You're usually a good poster but you seem to get very defensive and emotional when it comes to Golovkin.Comment

That's pretty depressing about the age demographics. I remember an Iole tweet that was also pretty shocking regarding demographics in the US.http://www.presseportal.de/pm/6708/2...eiche-premiere
Was right after Smith/Abraham 2 and got over 2 million
They were talking about it in here

The Taylor-Soliman fight on ESPN2 drew 477k households. Scary part is that 338k were 55-plus. Mostly old folks watching

That's disappointing, not sure what the coverage or advertising was like but you would think it would have done better being a legit world class fight.
Be nice to know the German ratings since the last Abraham fight drew huge numbers.Comment

This shouldn't be surprising at all, not many here know Murray, even among the sport fan community. GGG is a name which is still being built as a draw, that's what has lead to the ratings.
Unfair to compare to DeGale who had been on major Sky shows before his arrival on channel 5 and was a known quantity. Surprised that Kid drew more fans though but then again he is more fun to watch than Murray and has consistently featured on bigger channel 5 cards featuring heavyweights and so on.Comment

Martin Murray was on Sky for years. His world title fight with Sturm was shown on Sky Sports at prime time. This shouldn't be surprising at all, not many here know Murray, even among the sport fan community. GGG is a name which is still being built as a draw, that's what has lead to the ratings.

he was never as heavily promoted as DeGale the golden boy or Groves and the likes. Plus there was little advertising on the channel for it, unless you're a boxing fan like us, how would people know what to watch?Comment
