      Win-win for Haymon.
Haymon is in fact investing a lot, as the other guy pointed out. A reputation takes years to develop, and years of money is involved in developing that reputation in any career. In many respects, a reputation is more valuable than a monetary figure. And that's because a reputation is basically an asset. Liquid cash is not.

Then all of this involves lots of time to develop. Haymon could have been developing all this behind the scenes for more than two years, all of which costs time and money. It's pretty ignorant to think he didn't invest a penny.

        My two cents:

Take this **** off the headline article on the front page.

And stopping writing articles about the idiot Dana White would probably also be a good move.

I just came in this thread to say that, after seeing the front page.

I haven't and won't be reading the article about that absolute idiot.

Rick Reno is a great guy though.

40-50 tv dates across NBC/NBCSN, CBS/CBSSports/Showtime and Sp1keTV, with how many more dates coming from the pending ESPN/BET/Telemundo deals, I'm pretty confident that his fighters will be plenty happy.

As long as HBO is willing to put up the money for boxing, they will continue to exist in boxing; only difference is that the cost of business is going to go up, significantly.

Outside of Top Rank (who seem to have established themselves as the house promoter for HBO), if you're a budding star who fights for anyone else, your management team is going to make the calculus, behind forgoing the NBC/CBS/Showtime/Sp1ke/ESPN/BET/Telemondo/etc platform and becoming exclusive to HBO, and put a dollar figure on that.

If HBO can meet the price, the fighter stays on HBO (against whatever other fighters HBO can manage to get to commit). If HBO can't, the fighter moves on.

Finally some common sense out of UFC. Boxing will always be bigger then UFC for the foreseeable future, but that doesn't mean they can't work together and be supportive. Certain people watch boxing, certain people watch UFC...all that needs to be said

i always thought those hating on Haymon were overlooking some great things he does for his fighters, he gets them paid, keeps them intelligent, and his fighters seem to be disciplined athletes as oppose to Don King's way of handling his fighters' career, who were also in huge money fights but i think King kept them ignorant and if it was of benefit to King's agenda, King wouldn't care if they were out of shape or on drugs because he'd move on to a different fighter and use his undisciplined fighter as a stepping stone for his new fighter...... my guess as to the reason some big fights weren't made was because Haymon demanded his fighters get paid a certain amount by networks/promoters or he wouldn't allow his fighters to fight, my guess is that he puts a value on his fighters and it has to be met and if the networks don't want to pay what Haymon wants for his fighters then the networks would have to air fight cards like the Danny vs Salka card, now on NBC he's putting together the Danny vs Peterson, i think Haymon keeps his fighters educated and i wouldn't doubt that they get some sort of training or education in business as well....Haymon is so down low nobody will know why he did certain things but i think it was always for the best interest of the fighter and future business for that fighter

Ilook at this maybe a bit differently.....right now it may appear he's trying to take over the sport. But he's clearly 'a fighter's manager'......I don't ever remember hearing a Haymon-managed fighter *****ing. He's getting them paid like they weren't before....

I think he is looking at a bigger picture. He may have a tough time dealing with Top Rank and Golden Boy, and HBO for that matter right now.........but when you have the best fighters, at some point they will have to deal with him if for nothing else than self-preservation. But I really don't think he's looking for complete control.

I'm also interested in seeing how RocNation does with who is probably the best P4P fighter in the world not named Mayweather/under 35........Andre Ward. That's a great start for them and like him or not, he will be the best when Mayweather/Pac are done..I'd even argue he may well be a better fighter now.....but his own isues with Goosen and injuries have sidelined him...........and people are quick to dis on him. But look at where he was after the 'Super Six' and then truly dominating and dismantling the consensus best LHW since Roy Jones (yes, Calzaghe, Hopkins, Tarver and Johnson had their moments. But it was literally that)..........point is, Ward was peaking as a fighter regardless of ticket sales and will be back as an unpunished 32 year-old and quickly regain stauts........

But just as an example, say K2 can't get Golovkin the fights he wants like Cotto or Canelo.......and this is just one example. But were I GGG and wanted the biggest fights and the most opportunity, Golden Boy and TR may have the best opponents for him........but RocNation/Al Haymon would make much more sense especially once Oscar and TR end up having to deal with Haymon to keep their own fighters happy.

I think what will eventually happen is the sport will become MORE competitive and deliver better-match-ups more consistently than they do now......before it was a two-company, two-channel show. That is about to be changed and for the first time since the mid 80's, the sport is about to become much more open and give more fighters a shot..............it SHOULD also help with unification.

I don't think Al Haymon is bad for boxing. If he does it rght, he could make it mainstream again once he has the leverage.........and he's getting close.

What can Golden Boy/TR do without him in the near future? Most fighters currently on their rosters are under 2 year contracts. They will be wanting a crack at guys on Haymon's roster. If GB/TR can't deliver the opponents they want off that roster, what would you do?

They wil have to work with Al Haymon or watch figher after fighter walk..........RocNation appears to be trying to be another 'fighter's manager'.........if that works, TR and GB will not only start having to work together, but with those companies as well. And other companies like Shaw, Duva, Goosen, etc. will also have more options for their fighters.......

I will be the first to admit I'm wrong if Haymon flops......but I don't see that happening.........

Its really smart...Setup 3-4 ppvs a year and with the fights happening on NBC they advertise themselves and have more people buying ppv's and at the same time boxing is losing two major stars and there will be room for someone new to step right in and guess who will be their advisor/promoter. He can actually force guys to fight who they should and will sell more ppv's. He's getting paid/while building the next ppv star and advertising the person to millions and making more with the ppv shows. guerrero is making more than maidana did to fight Floyd (*in the short term)

*Maidana got the ppv rights to that part of the world, and in turn he can throw ppvs for up and comming fighters (or throw some soccer events) in that part of the world and get to be the promoter for their fights and continually make money off of them through the new relationships he's gotten by fighting Mayweather. so in the long term that fight is gonna make Maidana potentially alot of money in the future. Haymon does more for fighters and thats why they continually go to him for his advising. Look at paulie, he was criticizing people for signing with haymon, he signed and got a world championship fight within the first year and a job commentating that will continue to make him money when he decides to hang'em up. (Broner vs Garcia, Broner vs Thurman, Broner vs maidana or mathysse for example) with NBC building these fights up he will create the next 2 ppv stars the investors will be paid back and Haymon will continually be getting paid. as a matter of fact, who ever wins thurman vs guerrero will be matched vs the broner/whoever he's fighting, for the next ppv (CAUSE LIKE BRONER OR NOT, HE COMES TO FIGHT) and isnt that what you guys criticized mayweather for? (broner vs guerrero or
thurman or swift vs mathysse II. will be all fireworks by the way they all fight) thats a ppv card right there for the undisputed WW title or making it possible for the 2nd ppv card by facing off the winners
