The In-Shape Povetkin who showed up against Takam is the second best HW in the world, IMO. Carlos Takam is better then anyone Wilder has ever fought.

You're talking about Wilder like he didn't get giftwrapped a a vacant title against a guy who's best win was a fat street brawler named Chris Arreola. He's hardly a "champion." There's a reason his manager wants him to take it easy and "learn on the job." He's still very green.
You just pointed out. Marco Huck who is a cruiserweight. Povetkin' best win is Chambers or arguably Takam, the former win wasn't that impressive, the second ismore so but the again, despite the KO that wasn't an easy win for him too, takam won a couple of rounds mainly in the first half of the fight.

And Wilder for me proved that he isn't just a hype job because I saw (and I see) Stiverne as a defiitely top 10 heavyweight right now.

      Good fight.

Povetkin continues to prove himself as a guy with big balls who'll take on anyone.

Klitschko, Charr, Takam & Perez in 4 fights? That's better than what anyone has done in their past 4 incl. Klitschko!

He's making a big fan out of me. He's insisting on forcing his way back to a title shot as opposed to fiddle around with easy opponents. I like it a lot and I'm looking forward to Povetkin devastatingly knocking out another good fighter.

Povetkin has experience against the best HW of this decade. Look, Wilder is cool.... but if you think "Alexander Povetkin is easy work for Wilder because Wilder beat Bermaine Stiverne, I think you're in for a rude awakening and going to be shocked.

And I didn't even say Wilder was a hypejob.... I said he won't beat Povetkin, arguably the second best HW in the world.... a guy who is clearly NOT a hypejob. Povetkin is the real deal- the words hype job don't get tossed his way.

            Beautiful.

I like Wilder..... but this "holding a title hostage" **** has no place in boxing. Happens way too often
Hold your horses on that one.

WBC would much rather have Wilder as champ than Povetkin. Look for them to snake their way around a mandatory. 1 billion %.

It would be pretty meaningless to go for that, especially against a guy he's already beat. To get a better chance of fighting a guy he already lost to in a very very boring fight. Not super attractive.

A Wilder-Povetkin fight would be awesome. 50/50 down the middle. Povetkin is better than Stiverne, at least the stiverne that fought Wilder.

That's what I'm worried about. Not just here- but all across the board.

Which is why I said if it gets enforced properly. You're probably right.... I think some BS political stuff will happen and it doesn't get enforced.

But IF they do their job correctly- it will happen. Also money talks, and we all know Hryunov and Rybansky will throw a lot to the WBC to make it happen.

We can only hope. Not even just for the "hold a title hostage," sake, but Wilder-Povetkin is a fantastic fight.

Wait, I didn't say it's easy work for Wilder. I said I give it 55-45 to Wilder, I mean the chances. That's really close to 50-50

WBC are crap at enforcing mandatories. Especially considering the fighter in question, the first american heavyweight + he's cool with Haymon who has something like 50% of all WBC champs or whatever.

I just can't see them pissing all over that relationship + you just saw what happened with Anthony Dirrell and George Groves. He got a voluntary granted 8 months after his last fight! That means it'll be 15 months before he finally fights Groves who's been mando since september.

If Povetkin can't force the fight I can see him taking another big fight i.e. against Fury or Wlad rematch and then give up his mando for WBC. I can see that happen, but I definitely hope Povetkin and Wilder fights. That would be a ridiculously exciting fight.

Some guys man, they're just content with holding a paper title to say they're a champion.

I like that he ignored that, a "title" he already held against a guy he already beat.
