Comments Thread For: Golovkin's Manager: Andre Ward More Realistic in 2016

Max Hermann, manager of WBA/IBO/WBC interim-middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (32-0, 29KOs), says super middleweight king Andre Ward is not a realistic option for 2015, but he is a realistic option for next year.

Some of the fighters who are more likely include IBF middleweight champion Andy Lee and WBA 'regular' super middleweight champion Carl Froch. Lee will defend his title against former champion Peter Quillin in April. Froch is not scheduled for a fight, but likely will wait it out until the summer with the hope of facing Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. or Bernard Hopkins.

      Easy work Golovkin.

Andre Ward is a great fighter, though. Only GGG and Kovalev beat Ward at 168-175.

Ward is smart for pretending Kovalev (the unified LHW champion) doesn't exist, though

Nothing is realistic since he retired as soon as Golovkin became the face of boxing. That ****** coward. I ****ing hate that bish, no respect for him. I e-spit on his face.

All the more reason for Golovkin to fight Hopkins in May. Gennady gets in practice beating up a bigger man who fights in a negative fashion and builds his name fighting a highly recognized fighter.

I'm a big Ward fan but easy now. Lest we forget guys like Rigondeaux and Lomachenko. I think Ward beats him, but who knows? Kovalev may prove out to be the top pound for pound guy. And sure I'm missing somebody...

If Glolovkin's management wants to get GGG a fight with Ward, then it eventually ought to happen. And since we are already approaching March (and Ward has yet to announce his first comeback opponent), their looking to fight Ward in 2016 instead of 2015 seems to be more realistic. Let's hope that the fight gets made sometime in 2016.

I thought about this and remembered Chavez Jr's idea which was actually not a bad one . Golovkin should fight Hopkins (or someone at 168) on the under card of Froch-Chavez Jr if that happens. Test the waters with Golovkin on a PPV and set him up to fight the winner of the main event.
