Comments Thread For: Jean Pascal: Lack of Recent Rounds Won’t Hurt Me

Jean Pascal has fought less than two rounds in the past 12 months, and he still has a bit to go before his March 14 fight with light heavyweight titleholder Sergey Kovalev in Montreal on HBO.

Pascal had kicked off 2014 with a 12-round unanimous decision win over Lucian Bute in January and had hoped to return earlier in the year than ended up happening. His bout with late replacement opponent Roberto Bolonti came on Dec. 6. That fight ended in the second round as a no contest, when Pascal hit Bolonti on a break and Bolonti went down — and appeared to intentionally stay down as if he could not continue.

Sure, and as a matter of fact fighting less than 2 rounds in the last 12 months is going to become a key to championship fight preparation for the remainder of the 21st century.

His ability to go 12 won't matter when he's out of there in 4 or 5.

Its Kovalev that's going to hurt him not lack of recent rounds.

Maybe he's hoping Kovalev will go down like Bolonti

A Mismatch at this time in both of their career's.
Kovalev is going to hurt him early and end this within 5.

The lack of rounds isn't going to hurt you, Kovalev's punches will. My memory is spotty at best but I don't remember Pascal being any sort of defensive genius.

Right... It's not the "Lack of Recent Rounds" what will hurt Pascal... It's Kovalev.
