Golovkin has not approached this feat, be it reasons of politics or whatever even some would label excuses for not having stepped up in the ring and proven himself there......

Before the status and recognition on "Potential", which is subjective in itself because it stems mainly from opinions, some bias, some not boxing educated.

Now we could debate Golovkin's potential and I could give you my opinion on what I see or don't see in Golovkin, and you could do the same, perhaps educating each other even in the process....but without Golovkin having demonstrated in the ring his True Quality, it would carry little weight.

Having said this, we can ONLY go by what we have seen so far...........so far Golovkin has been "Over-Hyped", yes like many before him, not picking on him as the 1st, but just the Next.

So then what is Golovkin?, imo a good or decent fighter with exceptional power and a meek and humble persona in his interviews. just my opinion again. :ANYWORD:
He looks like a good pressure fighter with thudding power, good punch placement, solid chin thus far. GGG is a bit on the slow side ignores defense at times but has a wide punch variety and great jab when he uses it.

How he responds to some trouble we don't know and we know nothing about intangibles until we see him fight someone who can expose what he is all about.

So far I have been impressed with him against who he has faced, no decent-good fighters are beating him. It will take a real talented fighter to give GGG a run for his money.

The easy thing is to keep saying cotto should vacate. We all know he is one of the top 5 biggest star in the sport and the sanctioning bodies are not going to strip him because they get a ton when he defends. So knowing this why not suggest realistic options for GGG?

He can go up to 168 and fight a name there. He can start calling out Canelo-another big money fight- and not Cotto. Again, this means he doesn't get the lineal MW title right now that he wants, but it does give him a chance to get big fights.
stop trying to continually turn this into a it's GGG's fault situation ... GGG should do this and that etc.

The fact is cotto is ducking him ... he SHOULD fight him or vacate. Stop making your entire post about what GGG should do. I get that you hate GGG etc but be fair ... cotto is the lineal middleweight champ and he is refusing to fight the man at middleweight. Cotto needs to fight him or vacate stop trying to make it about GGG. FANS need to call fighters out on this ducking bull****.

It's like blaming rigo for santa cruz not being willing to fight him ... and ignoring what santa cruz is doing and just saying well rigo needs to move up in weight and focusing on what Rigo should do and absolving santa cruz.

Fair enough if GGG decides to move up due to cotto being a coward. but it is not a case of GGG SHOULD move up. It's a case of he SHOULD get the lineal title before he does. Either by cotto vacating it and GGG getting it that way or by cotto manning up and fighting him. It is GGG's long stated goal to be the unified champ at middleweight and if he fails in that due to ducking you can be sure that in a few years time when people are talking about his legacy people like you will harp on the fact that 'he was never lineal middeweight champion ... just a title holder'

he needs to get that lineal title and then move up ...

I think you are exaggerating. As I said earlier GGG is not an ATG, at this point not even an HOF. Just the best fighter in his weight class.

I can agree with you when you say that HBO is trying to "sell" him to Mexicans, it was rather obvious after the Rubio fight.

The "viva mexico , mexican style" stuff he was yelling after the fight was obviously scripted. They are trying to market him , yes, but I don't see what's so wrong with it.

            Which leads to my question.

If you consider GGG to be hype (I think he deserves some credit , in spite of an average level of opposition so far), what does it make of Canelo?.

Unlike GGG he was built up, protected, handed belts and fights. Oscar seems to preemptively pay off at least a judge every time Saul fights and said fights take place at his own weight class (155).

Just to put things into perspective.
