Ask Floyd, he got away with it for 7 years with Manny. Now you're mad because Cotto was taking notes?

if it's a mandatory defense, he doesn't get to set a "minimum weight", too bad for Miguel.

for reference, Canelo vs Floyd wasn't a mandatory, Cotto vs Martinez wasn't a mandatory, Margarito vs Pacquiao wasn't a mandatory

mandatory defenses aren't allowed to give the champion advantages like catchweights.

Cotto will vacate the title before the end of the year

Unless the WBC can get in a Floyd/Cotto rematch for the MW title, which is probably what will end up happening.

Excuses and reasons are different... Trout beat Cotto clearly, Roach even admits that. He's clearly a better fighter now, but if you want my "excuses" I don't think Cotto was mentally "up" to face Trout as he was Floyd and underestimated him greatly. Secondly, and this is well known, is that Cotto was overtraining with the Cuban. Running 8 miles a day, 6 days a week for example, so he had nothing for the fight. He clearly lost that fight, but that's why I think he did. Should they rematch, which I would like to see, Cotto would win clearly.

I feel like a terrible human and massive troll for saying this, but I've always thought that Cotto fans are in a bind here:

If Margarito was a career cheater, then how come only Cotto took a knee? If those plasters were so powerful, then how come no one quit like Cotto?

But, if Margarito in fact only began cheating against Mosley, then he didn't cheat Cotto unless he specifically feared Cotto's chin? ....weird

Yes, neg. rep me. Whatever, Cotto holding the belt hostage from The Champ is lame.

But if Margarito said he didn't feel anything different in his wraps between the Mosley and Cotto fights, he would have admitting to not knowing how long he was using them. And, on my gosh, Margarito actually said that :O

That was quite the career resurrection for Cotto beating Sergio. I think he won't hold the belt hostage that long to be honest. Cotto seems like he just wants to make a huge payday then maybe do his promotions.

I think he knows a Bundrage, Rios, or Bradley fight would probably bomb. I'd be surprised if any of the three got made unless of course those guys take seriously short money.
