Ultimately, this is the sentiment, regardless of any B.S. excuses that get thrown out there (e.g. scared of needles, building a stadium, etc.).

Having followed this saga closely back in 2009/2010, this was clearly the feeling of Pac's side at the time. That Floyd's pulling sh|t outta his ass, and he can now shove it back up there for all we care. Call it walking away, whatever, it was a big "**** you".
2009 Pacquiao walks away from the biggest fight of his career because of random drug testing 14 days prior to the fight. He turns down 50/50 purse split.

2015 Pacquiao agrees to random blood testing up until the day of the fight (initiated by Pacquiao) and a 60/40 split in favor of Mayweather.

How foolish could a fighter/boxer be to turn down 50/50 money split just because random blood testing 14 days to the fight? But now it's ok? and he is getting 60/40? The problem was that Manny thought he was the biggest in the sport but now he realizes he is not and for one I'm glad you smartened up.

Basically Pacquiao walked away from more money only to accept the same deal for less money in 2015.

It makes absolutely no sense from a business perspective.

How foolish I was not to buy Google stock for a few bucks several years ago, but it's now OK to pay hundreds of dollars per share?

I guess we're all idiots for not being able to see into the future.

The biggest mistake Manny made was thinking he was going to out rank Mayweather and that he took the spot from him. Remember.... Manny had a massive ego against Oscar, Hatton and Cotto. He tested Floyd and said F U I'm out! You don't run boxing (remember that was his stance) but as time went on it was evident he was not in Floyd's league even with a whole country behind him. But honestly speaking I feel Arum put the bug in Manny's ear to play that position. We can't tell the future or what it will bring but in the present we can tell after when we made bad decisions. I applaud Manny for chopping it up with Floyd and making the fight a reality.

However, this whole situation was planned by Floyd. Honestly it was brilliant, like in dumb and dumber to (Lloyd pretends to be a vegetable for 15 years as a joke) 5 long years of dismissing the fight, the result is the biggest mega fight extravaganza in the history of boxing. If it took place 5 or so years ago it wouldnt have made nearly as much money! Bravo Floyd seems there was a method to his madness!

I don't think Manny knowingly played along with Arum's game. I think he honestly believed all the "Floyd's scared" nonsense. Just like I honestly believed this last "sign the contract" farce. Floyd's not without fault either. He could have taken charge of this thing years ago like he did this time. Floyd is only demanding the fight because he has no easier, sellable options at this point.

I agree because Pacquiao was seriously looking confused when Floyd was talking to him like "what the f***" and I also agree that Floyd should have said something years ago especially with the whole Top Rank clock and all the other shenanigans that were going on and he remained quiet. I saw in a video interview years ago with Pacquiao and how he was talking it always made it seem like Arum was telling him how Mayweather is looking at them and what he is trying to do and how is trying to act. Bob gassed Manny up.

I don't think Arum ever wanted the fight and still doesn't. I just think he expected Floyd to go another route like he has in the pass. But at this point, it was a miscalculation on Arum's part. Because the only guy outside of Manny that guarantees Floyd a million buys is GGG, who would ice Floyd inside three rounds. That's the reason the fight is happening, IMHO.

This fight is a few years too late to be interesting. Its clear Floyd has just been waiting for Manny to be well past his physical peak to make the fight.

It would have been so much better 3-4 years ago.

Now the outcome is basically irrelevant. Pacquiao is a fighter who relied on his physicality and athletic abilities to do what he did, most of that is gone now.
