Comments Thread For: Pacquiao's Adviser Talks Mayweather Deal, Details

Like everyone else involved, Mike Koncz, the adviser to WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao, is relieved and excited that the long-awaited showdown with Floyd Mayweather, the WBC/WBA champion, has finally been agreed upon. On Friday afternoon, Mayweather made the announcement that the boxing world has been waiting for since 2010, that the two titans would be meeting on May 2nd at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Koncz told BoxingScene.com - "Floyd is the lead promoter on this and the priority was getting this fight made so the fans could get what they wanted and this fans will be the ones to decide after that night who truly is the worlds best fighter in this generation, Floyd or Manny."

Just an one hour special? I would've love to see 24/7 for this fight. Shame.

I think both fighters know that they've pushed this fight out long enough already. Plus it's not like where gonna get to see something new anyways. I'm just glad the fight is finally on.

Not going to waste money to produce 2 tv shows when you don't need to.

Im really glad that there is no 24/7, All Access for this fight.

Truth be told, all this media/TV production interferes with training.

I want the guys to go all out and not have to worry about doing promotion for the show.

The fight ready had 5 years of promotion. No need wasting time or money on a fight that sells itself.

Pacquiao should have a 8-10 week training camp.

It would be good if he could come in **** on 147lbs, but he is just too small.

I'll admit, I must give Koncz a lot of credit for admitting that Arum and Manny were lying, and that there were no contracts signed. The fact that he gave that interview with FightHype was even bigger, and then to kill that deadline was even more impressive. I really believe that the hotel meeting in Miami saved the fight! Manny had to be pissed and embarrassed, and he probably demanded that Arum get his **** together!
