Official Floyd Mayweather- Manny Pacquiao Postfight aftermath discussion

Thank you and thank you. I said a couple months ago that I re-watched Pacquiao-Morales I and man, that is a telling fight. The key is to stand your ground or make Pacquiao fight going backward, which isn't something he's too good at. Manny's foot speed is excellent but he wastes a lot of energy moving needlessly. Further, he's much more flat-footed these days anyway. Either way, Mayweather is the stronger fighter and he can patiently come forward behind the jab. If Pacquiao gets reckless, Mayweather could time him for some heavy shots. And those shots will hurt. Manny's gotten used to taking punches from the Rios', Bradley's and Algieri's of the world. Mayweather will be an entirely different ball game.

Yup. Establish that jab downstairs early and get him thinking about it. It may take a few rounds for Floyd to get his timing down but he should adjust as usual. If you get Pac second guessing himself he gets gun shy and we've seen that happen before.

my point is manny is confident that he'll give floyd a beat down that this early he is already explaining that it is his job and nothing personal.

he did'nt actually say it in that interview. but there are patterns in his interview where you could tell if he would be extra aggressive in the fight.

I'm one of the few that still maintain Pacquiao will win this, even at this stage in his career. His hands are still and have always been, faster than Mayweathers, he is quicker on his feet too and as Bert Sugar once said, "It's the guy with the most fire in him who ends up winning". Pacquiao still has that fire. Once Mayweather comes under fire and his father or uncle can not help him, he will falter and he will cease to be undefeated.

respect your right to an opinion just remember something-don't judge Floyd the boxer by Floyd's out of the ring persona. Check the Castillo fight, Maidana, Mosley round 2, zab round 4 among others -the man has been hurt, he's been down and yet he still wins.

Floyd has spent his entire life in the ring and is a professional in every sense of the word. Never forget that.

Can you actually do that though? Its fooking constant with you this 'everyone be hatin a black man winning' crap. I'm happy the fights happening, its long overdue and from a purely boxing perspective, lost some of its value, but its still the most intriguing fight in the sport. Try and focus on that and stop with the race nonsense.

Think I'm going with Pacquiao on this one. The obvious pic is Mayweather, but I'm not too confident Mayweather will be able to adjust to Pacman's style. Pac brings way too many strengths that are hard on Mayweather's style: speed, volume, feints, and southpaw stance.

Speed/Volume: I don't see Mayweather timing Pacquiao. It's one thing to time a guy who throws a 2 or 3 punch combo, but Pacquiao at times throws 6-7 punch combos and has much more speed than past opponents. Pot shotting is not gonna do the trick, Marquez had success because he is a combination counter puncher, Mayweather isn't. Speed will be a factor in this fight. Yes, at times Pacquiao is predictable, but the speed is there. I can see Mayweather potshotting after Pacquiao's first 2 jabs in his 1-1-2 combos, though. Pac needs to feint a lot. I think Pacs feints are gonna bother Mayweather, and this is gonna mess his timing up. Feints, force mayweather to back up into ropes, and throw 6-7 punch combos.

Southpaw stance: Battle of stances for Pacquiao is a plus. He has had success against his orthodox opponents, but against Mayweather he will have to make use of lead lefts more often. In terms of adjusting to stance, you have to favor Pacquiao given how often each has faced orthodox or southpaw stances. I think the lead left hand can have success with the head or chest target easier than orthodox stance punches,

Power: I think Pac's power will surprise Mayweather, since it comes with speed. It's not ncessarily a thudding kind of punch like Maidana, but it's the speed that really does the trick. I think Pacquiao may drop Mayweather, similar to how he dropped Mosley: off of a feint. More of a push kind of knockdown too, or off balance.

Again, I just think Pacquiao brings way too many factors that go against Mayweather's timing style: speed, power, volume, feints, southpaw stance. I think it will be hard for him to adjust to all these things.

Like people have said, Mayweather must keep the fight in the center of the ring. I think he has a good chance of boxing Pacquiao; pulling back when he sees Pacquioa coming in, turn him, make Pacquiao reset. Mayweather can control the tempo this way, and with clinching. But, will there be enough Mayweather offense to warrant a victory? I don't think potshotting will do the trick, he will have to be busier against Pacquiao, but this means having to engage more and be left open for Pacs offense, speed, volume, power. I don't see Mayweather winning this fight.

Think Pac Monster is showing up for this fight, given what it means for the history books.
