That's the thing, I don't think any Floyd fan derives part of their self-worth from Floyd being a phenomenal boxer. Whereas with Pacquiao it is so clear that many of his supporter's own self-image is drawn from Pacquiao being a phenomenal fighter. There is an insane amount of nationalism and pride tied to Pacquiao that just isn't there with Floyd due to Americans having world-class athletes across a multitude of sports.
