Who would want to watch this fight in a stadium monitor? I'd rather watch it in my 70" hdtv along with my friends and families. Soul food + Pinoy food + Alcohol = ultimate boxing party!Comment

It doesn't matter if your opponent is tall or short, the strategy is to keep him at the end of your lead hand and keep him from setting his offense. Floyd has the same reach as Algieri. Algieri mostly threw a few stiff jabs and constantly backpedaled with his lead hand down. Manny easily chased him down and walked through him. There's no logical reason for you to drop your lead hand and invite your opponent to easily run through you. Make your opponent try to bypass your lead hand so that he can walk/lunge into your straight right hand.
It's the same thing when you're in the high guard stance, you automatically give your opponent the leverage he needs to set up a straight punch downstairs because your lead hand is kept up high to the front of your face and your opponent doesn't have to worry about tryng to get through it to use his own lead hand to set up his offense against you. He'll easily move closer to you when you have both of your hands so far up the side of your face.
Watch the Pacquiao- Clottey fight, Clottey did a great job and defended well against punches that were thrown at him from upstairs because he kept both his lead hand and right hand squared tight in front of his face, but he gave Manny the leverage to sneaked a lot of punches downstairs because Manny didn't had Clottey's lead hand reaching at him on the way in. Manny just used his own lead hand to feint with a pawing right jab or double pawing jabs, then threw a straight left downstairs. Clottey did caught him a few times with some straight right counters upstairs when Manny threw a few right hooks around the left side of Clottey's body.
It's all about the lead hand control. Using your lead hand to set up your offense is just as important as trying to gain lead foot positioning. I don't see what advantage Floyd gains when he fights with his lead hand down. Other than baiting/anticipate his opponent(orthodox) to throw a jab, so that he can pull his upper body out and lean forward with a straight right hand counter. Maidana was the first opponent who made him paid when he tried that move. Floyd always fights better when he uses his lead hand to measure the distance and at the same time set up his offense behind it. Floyd still has amazing reflexes, but at 38 years old, he needs to stop constantly dropping his lead hand down by his waist and relying heavily on his reflexes to react in time for oncoming attacks.Last edited by Carpe Diem; 02-26-2015, 11:08 AM.Comment

It would not be difficult to see the fight at all....Which is why the place is packed out for every event held there, sporting or otherwise...The largest HDTV screen in the world makes it seem like you are front row from anywhere in the place, not to mention the multiple other huge screens everywhere in the place....bad points, sorry.Comment

Football v boxing dude? the ring is 20 x 20 in the center of the field the rows of seats on either side. then the stadium seats. those in the stadium seats would have to watch on the monitor. during the football games they don't.
The people in the "best" seats for football would have tremendous difficulty looking up the whole night. Their viewing angle would suck.
What about if you have a seat on the field? the football field isn't flat. its more like a pitchers mound, but the angle isn't as steep. How do you overcome the fact people closest to the ring are higher than those behind them?
You are severely underestimating the difference between stadium seating and an arena designed specifically for boxing.Comment
