Right. But with Floyd's style, I knew he would control the pace. That's what counter punching does to guys. And with Floyd, his ring generalship is top notch, so Manny wasn't able to just rush in like he normally does.
I mean, there were rounds were Manny just followed him and didn't throw much at all. At that point, I knew where the fight was headed.
i think the reach was key for floyd also his foot speed...
i thought before the fight reach might not be a big problem because pacman is fast on his feet,
but tonight proved otherwise,
pacman wouldnt have had any problem with reach if the fighter wasnt as fast on his feet like floyd,
after watching the maidana fights floyd looked slow on his feet so i hough manny would get to him,
but i think floyd made sure he was focued concentrating all the time so he was always on his toes
Disappointing. Both promised KOs and high action, and both came out somewhat lethargic. Nobody got destroyed, and worst of all no meme material came out of it
The fight is getting slammed everywhere I look. Honestly didn't think it was that bad. The middle rounds were actually pretty good.
Just a bunch of casuals man. They mostly were rooting for Pac since everyone seemed to swallow the rhetoric that Floyd is evil and of course scared of Pac. And most of them probably new nothing of either fighter besides the highlights so assumed it would be some epic slugfest.
Screw the casuals. They don't care about the sport. Even if it were a fight with lots of drama it doesn't mean they would stick around because those kind of fights are rare events. We haven't had a Corrales-Castillo or Gatti-Ward in years.
It was a good fight if you were already a fan of both boxers and actually understand how fights play out.
Sidenote: I expect the media to discredit this win for Floyd in about a month and start pushing Thurman as the man for the job. Him getting a win over an old Floyd does nothing for him. I say let Floyd take a gimme fight in September and ride off into the sunset. He's earned it.
I was rooting for Pacquiao but I have always been a fan of Floyd. Seeing the better man win was worth it though, finally all the none sense ends and one cancerous fan base dies off. I couldn't be happier
