I don't think it was only Universum's fault to be honest. If he looked like that, how hard did he train during his time off and how committed was/is he?
If your career had been stalled a year, your dedication would suffer.no doubts.
Lets judge him when he returns, now he has supposedly been under a strict regime and in serious camps. The Leapai fight maybe came too soon after the Universum split, though K2 were offering there and then, I'm sure it could have been delayed unless it was the WBO pushing for a mandatory defence, as we know these defences can take two years or more to come around again with Wlad holding all his titles.
Had he have beaten Leapai we'd only be talking about how brutally he was dispatched like Leapai was, Boytsov simply hasn't the physical attributes to trouble this new breed of super heavy. He can however be involved in competitive match ups with the likes of Povetkin, Stiverne and Arreola, guys his own size. He is a pretty technical boxer with a lot of raw power.
