Comments Thread For: Stevens-Rosado To Use Special Gloves With Chip

Big Knockout Boxing (BKB) made a splash with its debut last August, offering a refresh on the traditional boxing brand. Fighting in a smaller and circle-shaped ring without ropes, combat sports fans were treated to an entertaining show capped by Gabe Rosado’s knockout win over Bryan Vera.

The bout took place at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas and aired live on Pay-Per-View, with both factors once again in play for the April 4 edition of BKB 2. Rosado returns in the evening’s headliner, taking on former middleweight contender Curtis Stevens, who makes his BKB debut.

Sounds gimmicky, but I wonder if this is a step towards accurate punch numbers using chips in gloves.

Technically bkb is evolving boxing in general is still in the stone age. Ive had ideas about using those sensors they use on sports science.

What if the punch is blocked?
              how does it work then?
I still think it is a cool idea, glad to see the direction the sport is going this year.

Innovation in sport is great, as long as there's not an expectation to adopt everything that gets thrown out there. Keep or ditch what works and what doesn't. Some of us (including myself) wanted to see open scoring, but it's been shown to not be a particularly good idea after all. Instant replay is an excellent idea, so obviously keep that. This sensor thing sounds interesting and should be trialled, but there needn't be a rush to adopt it in normal boxing.

Yeah, I think the chip's usefulness is going to be very limited but at least everyone is willing to give it a go. At the least its going to give fans a new stat to crow about. And I think Stevens has a good chance of knocking out Rosado, Rosado's been in too many wars and has slowed down enough to be chin checked by Stevens.

this is why BKB >>>>>>> current boxing

BKB is the future and i'm glad more fighters are joining in. this will be a great great fight.

people laughed at me when i said BKB will be the future of boxing, but just wait in a couple years time all the top names will be in BKB.
