Ever since Maidana. I have no faith in Broner as a boxer. He needs to prove himself against a top level fighter
Can Adrien Broner even beat Chris Algieri?

Styles make fights..Broner doesn't move at all..he shells up whenever someone is on the offensive and throws very few punches unless the other guy is standing right in front of him. Algeiri takes it like 8-4 IMO...Comment

I feel like he embellishes his movements a bit too much, he could achieve what he wants to do easily with less movement but its more "aesthetic" for him to move the way he does. But he has great stamina so I guess it doesn't really matter. When I say "pure boxer" I'm talking about style. Watch the way hes constantly moving his head side to side and up and down setting up angles. Constantly works the jab and knows to use range and distance. Great footwork, uses every inch of the ring.
Hes only ever really struggled with the elite level. He'll outbox anyone below that easilyComment

Oh and in before The Fight Doctor wakes up at noon and walks to the coffee shop to steal their Internet and gets in here to hate on Algeiri cause he's Caucasian lol...Comment

please stop trying to hype him up. pac/algieri was an awful fight that shouldn't have happened.Comment

I think Algieri is better than people have been labelling him since the Pacquiao fight.Looking beyond the AB haters...
I think AB can beat Algieiri relatively easily.
Broner is flat footed, but can cut the ring and walk people down well.
Algieiri is a good mover (not great) but his movement doesn't really help him
control the ring.
Personally I think Algieiri is very overrated and limited, he is also far too focused on his weird dietary habits and pursuit of becoming a 'master boxer'.
But I think his problem here isn't finding space, it's landing effectively. Algieri's not going to score much with that jab flicking, pot-shotting garbage against Broner because the shell does provide a reasonable defensive shield against that sort of crap.
Broner is vulnerable to creative pressure and combination punching at close range, because of the various weaknesses that he has. But Algieri's not entirely convincing in either regard.
It's a 50-50 fight because Algieri could be able to freeze Broner up with 3-4 punch combinations when he sticks, and then spend the rest of the time moving while Broner plods after him. But if Broner's got forward momentum and isn't that troubled by the other guy's power, he's well capable of getting his shots in too.Comment

He can't make 135 anymore and with his weight issues I wouldn't be surprised if he couldn't make 140 within his next few fights or so.Comment

It's a tough fight to call, Algieri isn't a great fighter but he's a fairly elusive boxer and Broner is extremely easy to hit and wastes tons of time walking around trying to play what I suppose he considers "mindgames".
Chris might be able to steal enough rounds to win a close, boring decision.Last edited by ////; 02-19-2015, 08:05 AM.Comment
