Comments Thread For: Hatton: Khan's Style Would Scare Mayweather To Death

Manchester legend Ricky Hatton believes his good friend, Amir Khan (30-3, 19KOs), has the perfect style to give WBC/WBA welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (47-0, 26KOs) nightmares in the ring.

Hatton, who got knocked out by Mayweather in 2007, says the Bolton fighter may not be better, but he's faster and his fighting style would make Mayweather abandon his usual game plan.

Mayweather is currently in negotiations to fight Manny Pacquiao on May 2nd at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. If, for whatever reason, those negotiations fall apart - then Khan becomes a big player to face Mayweather on the same date.

So what ricky is trying to say...is that the way to beat mayweather,is to make him attack you? Just do nothing, and let mayeather be the aggressor,so you can counter him? Its...brilliant...somebody call erislandy lara, and make the fight happen.

It is unfortunate that fighters are only judged by their performance in their last fight. Hatton is looking at Khan's performance against Alexander and, based on that, thinks Khan can beat Mayweather. Two fights prior to that, the same Khan looked like crap against journeyman, Julio Diaz.

Khan should fight the winner of Guerrero/Thurman or the winner of Garcia/Peterson. If he does the same thing this opponent as he did against Alexander, then you can say that he has a chance of beating a 38-year old guy who is eight years past his prime.

"scare Mayweather to death." A tired cliche. Is that the best you can do Ricky? "scare Mayweather to death." Let's try that again, "scare Mayweather to death." Well, okay. I'll bet Floyd's going to sign to fight Manny just so he doesn't have to fight Amir. Yup.

Christ for the life of me I don't understand how Khan is even a relevant fighter. He got smacked around his whole 140lb crusade and now beating old fossil Collazo grants him a title of being feared by greats what has boxing turned into SMH.
