  • Comments Thread For: Lemieux Accepts N'Dam Fight For Vacant IBF Title

Eric Gomez, VP of Golden Boy Promotions, has confirmed to BoxingScene.com that feared middleweight puncher David Lemieux (33-2, 31KOs) of Canada has accepted the mandate of the International Boxing Federation to face Hassan N'Dam (31-1, 18KOs) for the vacant IBF championship.

N'Dam became the mandatory challenger to the title last October after winning a final eliminator over Curtis Stevens. He was due to face champion Jermain Taylor. But then Taylor, who is currently facing an assortment of legal issues, was stripped of the title. The sanctioning body ordered Felix Sturm to face N'Dam for the title. Sturm, who no longer wants to fight at 160, took a pass.

N'Dam by decision. He hits the mat once.

This could potentially fill the Bell Center with 22,000 people and be ppv in Canada. With N'Dam speaking french, he'd sell himself well there.

Well that would be curious... It'd suck if he did do that and GBP wouldn't let him fight anybody that's a threat because they know they can fill the Bell Center as long as he holds a title.

I hope the winner fights GGG, but i feel like that's unlikely

N'Dam's not fighting Curtis Stevens of Main Events, he's fighting David Lemieux of Golden Boy promotions. GB is desperate for another star and there's serious money at stake.

If there's any close rounds, expect them to go to the power punching aggressor Lemieux with potentially 20,000+ Canadian fans screaming for every swing he takes.
