Plain and simple do you want to win or look good, if youre a boxer why try brawling if your intent is to win? If you know you can win by simply outboxing your oppponent, why give your opponent a chance to win, if your goal is to win in any event you give your opponent the least possible chances to do what they do good. You dont have mercy on an opponent period, if he cant punch really well when moving to his left, make him move to his left! Show no mercy, if youre facing a power puncher stay outta the way of his power, that is if you really want to win. Floyd is a win first, by all means type of fighter. if I can take you in into the deep water and drown you, im gonna take your ass to the deep water and drown you. Look at maidana, he tried to knee, bite, and rabbit punch his way to victory and alot of you celebrated that he went outside the rules, but in the same manner his opponent didnt let it get him off his game, and beat him anyway. two sides of a coin just depends on who you like. If youre facing a guy with no legs, you use that against him, if im facing a paraplegic im gonna take advantage of it and use it to win, you guys praised maidana for trying everything under the sun thats dirty but complain when his opponent adjusts to it and does whatever he has to do to win. He could have, most defintely.

I think he could have stopped Marquez aswell. He did put the gass on late in that fight but once he realised Marquez wouldnt go down easy he took his foot off.

I think he actually did intend to try and stop Cotto, he buzzed him a few times in the first few rounds and after he walked down Mosley and everyone made the myth that he's "super strong" he tried to put the gass on in the 5th and let his hands go and that ended up being a big mistake.

Floyd is NOT an aggressive fighter. Floyd takes risk into account. Sure in the early days he was more aggressive but you need to remember that Floyd takes risk and who the opponent is into account.

If someone fights like he is fighting in mud (flat-footed), sure Floyd becomes more aggressive. Even then, its a measured aggression.

Floyd's aggression is effective aggression. He won't take wild punches or even punches that would/could result in a counter. He is more of an opportunistic type of aggressor. If you make a mistake he is right there to capitalize.

if you fight for a living, youre probably aggressive. What does being aggressive have to do with winning? Your main goal in ANY competition should be to WIN, and floyd does that better than anyone who currently boxes for a living, and people have a problem with successful people. Its been like that since the beginning

I agree its the perception that if you just come in throwing punches youre an aggressive fighter, a dumb one, if you want to improve your chances of winning

He will lead if you give it to him and that's what separates him from a lot of other counter punchers. Guys that wait too long and give the fight away being overly defensive or waiting for the one big shot. I wouldn't necessarily call him aggressive though. Just willing to lead if you give him the option.

Also people that wait to counter him get smoked. I think it's better to be aggressive and throw with him rather than to play his low output/high efficiency game. You're gonna have to outbox him at some junction once he starts boxing laterally and avoiding exchanges.

Boxing is a competition and you have to win and keep winning, that's the goal, you get in there you do what you do best and get the victory the safest way possible, sometimes being aggressive is safer than being defensive for example against southpaws, Floyd's shoulder roll defense doesn't allow him to block and counter southpaws so effectively so he becomes aggressive against southpaws to prevent fighters from pressing him and landing stuff through his guard because again, the shoulder roll defense is not so effective against southpaws.

Back in the day he used to fight very offensively sometimes to prove that he can be offensive as well, but this was at the lower weights where the power of his opponents never concerned him, but at 147 and 154 it's a different ball game, 1 punch could end or at least change the fight completely.
