I've seen Devon Alexander and Rigondeaux use it but it's not very common. Have you seen any other notable fighter use it in a fight?

No southpaw uses the shoulder roll defense because 95% of boxers fight in the orthodox stance.

Try shoulder rolling a strong right hand while on the southpaw stance and see how it turns out. Rigo and alexander don't really use the shoulder roll. I mean once in a while I guess they kind of instinctively roll out of a punch.

As I said there is no point of using the shoulder roll as a southpaw because most of your opponents are going to be orthodox so it will counter productive.

BTW I box and I am a southpaw lol.

I think Zab Judah and maybe Collazo sometimes. I don't think many of them use is as their main defensive stance for the reasons already stated above.

I'm not a southpaw but from watching how Mchunu uses it, it's a bit different from an orthodox shoulder roll. He leans back away from jabs and parrys them at their full extension with his right shoulder in order to create counter openings. It's definitely different from a guy like Broner who just "shells up" with his shoulder to avoid right hands.

I'm a right handed Southpaw and I can switch depending on my opponent but using the shoulder roll while Southpaw feels so wrong for me. I just keep my high guard.
