Comments Thread For: Brandon Rios: Pacquiao Still Lacking That Killer Instinct

Former champion Brandon Rios is not convinced that Manny Pacquiao has been able to regain that "killer instinct." A few years ago, Pacquiao brutalized opponents in the ring and punished them into submissions. Since the stoppage victory over Miguel Cotto in the fall of 2009, Pacquiao has been unable to put away his opponents inside the distance.

Rios fought Pacquiao in 2013 and lost virtually every round of the fight, but he never felt threatened by Pacquiao in the ring. And Rios wasn't moved by Pacquiao's last fight with Chris Algieri, who the Filipino boxer dropped six times but couldn't put him away.

A few years ago? More than half a decade ago.

Rios, you would have got knocked out if you were trying to win. You threw twice as many punches against Alvarado 1. Its hard to knock out non agressive fighters who are aware of your power. Marquez was getting beat and hung in there long enough for lightining to strike... Hatton, Cotto, Margarito got brutilized because despite Manny's power they were trying to go all out and win the fight... You Rios a hard nose balls out warrior fought like Winky Wright. Guards Up and Jabs. Had you tried to exchange like you did with Alvarado in the 1st and 2nd fights you would have been KOed which is why you fought like Wrinky Wright instead of yourself Brandon Rios... You gave yourself no chance to win or go out on your sheild... WHY??? PACQUIAO'S KILLER INSTINCT... What a dumb ass....

Exactly. People say Pac lost his killer instinct. But really guys stopped trying to beat him. They go into survival mode.

I know, now he just boxes everyone's ears off at 35-years old, and 15+ years in the game.

Yeah I don't buy it either. I could be wrong, but I think it's a bit of spin put by Pac's team to explain the lack of knockouts that got taken far too seriously.
