This. Watched this fight several times. Marquez had a few rounds that he won big, but in terms of rounds won Manny won more rounds.

The prevailing thought was that Manny was going to run over Marquez. The fact that he didn't influenced people's perception of the fight IMO.

I had Marquez winning clear at the time, haven't watched it since.

How can you win a fight if the Champion(Pacquiao) is the one who is making the move/offense while the Challenger(Marquez) is waiting for a perfect time to counterpunch?

Will you gave the round to the challenger if he didn't land a meaningful counterpunch while the champion was pressing the attack and landed more pucnh than the challenger in that particular round.

Pacquiao won that fight or draw if you like Marquez.
It happens, I watched Herrera v Mayfield yesterday. Herrera outlanded Mayfield on compubox and pressed the action but Mayfield won more rounds over 10. It was close but he pulled it off.

this is the closest fight, and the only one i thought marquez actually had an arguement for the decision, why people called it a robbery, since he actually could have won this one, still a close fight that you can't complain if it went to pacquiao and if you watch it carefully it's leaning on pacquiao

          1 - Pac
          2 - JMM
          3 - JMM
          4 - JMM
          5 - JMM
          6 - JMM
          7 - JMM
          8 - JMM
          9 - Pac
          10 - Pac
          11 - Pac
          12 - Pac

          7-5 JMM

Marquez taking the championship rounds off was idiotic, but given the official cards he was never going to get the decision fighting the way he did. The HBO commentary was utterly appalling that night, they hadn't a clue what was happening right in front of them.

I think this was one of JMM's great peformances. Manny was on a rampage at this time and Marquez led him around by the nose for three-quarters of the fight.

But his strategy in the late rounds was ridiculous. The previous rounds had not been won decisively enough to justify laying off. His activity dropped off completely and he gave control of the fight back to Pacquiao. That's not why he lost on the cards, the judges just weren't impressed with him anyway, but it was seriously dumb nonetheless.

A clear marquez victory to me, he whupped pac in most rounds.
In my opinion pac only got the decision because of crooked boxing politics in giving it too the cash cow. Felt bad for jmm should of been crowned in glory and left the ring in one of his lifes greatest moments, but in my view corruption was too rear its ugly head on one of boxings biggest nights.

Pac got he head snapped back all night in that fight. Marquez was a clear winner in my eyes. I had it 9 rounds to 3 if i wanted to be very generous 8-4.

People who hold too much stock in compubox make me laugh. Compubox sucks.

This is the first and only fight I scored in JMMs favour, even the 4th, I had Manny leading into that dramatic round.

JMM boxed as best as he had ever done and I normally hate his whinging and his fans but they had a right to whinge that night. I think it's the only legitimate "robbery" in his career.

Btw how did the initial post change to the 4th fight? lol

Pac's easiest fight of the 4 wins vs Marquez. Schooled the roided out, journeyman with 10 losses Marquez.

close fight, there were so many close rounds in this fight esp at the beginning, you can argue either way, but i just felt marquez landed cleaner blows than manny.

btw marquez was super slow in this fight, you could tell manny thot that it was going to be a breeze
