“There is urgency to get this done and get it going, but we’re not in a panic mode in terms of the calendar right now,” he said.
Well they kind of should be if they genuinely want the fight to happen on May 2nd.

I've always been a big Cotto fan but he has one big flaw. He's predictable. Notice how after he throws his punches he has to reset. He does it every single time. Against Floyd Cotto only had success when Floyd played the ropes. There was point late in the fight where they were both in the middle of the ring and Floyd was just picking him apart and going around Cotto's high guard.
That's why Floyd and everyone Cotto has fought said he's tough to figure out... anything but predictable. Floyd called him awkward in the ring... If you feel Khan (best win is... Maidana or Paulie) gives Floyd a tougher fight fine. But making **** up saying Cotto is predictable when nearly everyone who's fought and even sparred him has called him tough to figure out and very deceptive. Mosley is another one who said the same thing... just stop bull****ting.

“Imagine the Super Bowl was negotiated on a case-by-case basis. So what network the Super Bowl is on, who produced it, which is the home team, where the teams stay, who gets introduced first, what network talent is involved and that gives a little bit of insight of why this process seems to be dragging on for quite a while.”

            good comparison

              Exactly!!!

Khan will also be the easiest to negotiate with. Floyd will be able to just throw any offer he wants and Khan will be crapping his pants while he is signing his name on the dotted line.

Cotto's a PPV guy, and Floyd probably needs that level of draw to go up against Canelo on regular HBO. The implication being Cotto is a bigger draw than Khan in the US.

Having said that, Cotto's team don't seem to be going for it but then they haven't named an alternative either which means they could be hanging around for it.

Showtime will try to push the Cotto fight, because there is bigger money in it, but Floyd will go after the Khan fight. His number 1 reason for doing that, will be just to make sure that Manny doesn't have an opponent, so he will be stuck fighting someone like Vargas. Not only that, if Floyd fights Cotto and Pac fights Khan, Pac will get way more credit for his fight them Floyd will for his. The critics will be all over Floyd. They will say that Floyd ducked not only Manny, but they will say he ducked Khan also and took a soft fight with Cotto, with whom, he has already beat in a "one sided" fight once before.
