Miguel Cotto - Ricky Hatton comparison

    Last ten fights

    Miguel Cotto
    1. Gianluca Branco- not the best opponent, but a guy w/ a good record who gave Gatti a hell of a fight, plus it was Cottos first fight back since his ear drum healed.
    2. Ricardo Torres- Undefeated w/ a 28-0-26 KO's, no big names on his record, but to have a record like that u gotta be decent. Turned out Torres is a great fighter, and i think hed spank Hatton, Hatton refused to fight Torres for a replacement for Lazcano.
    3. Mohamed Abdullaev- Olympic gold medalist, beat Cotto in olympics,to anyone who seen his "loss" against Clottey knows he was reall an undefeated fighter. So in my opinion Cotto knocked out an undefeated olympic gold medalist.
    4. Demarcus Corley- Great fighter, only one to ever hurt Mayweather, and lost a very close SD to Judah. He rocked Cotto, but Cotto showed heart and came back, good win for Cotto against a great opponent.
5- Randall Bailey- Bailey was 28-4 27 KO's,former champion, was suppose to be a good test for Cotto, Cotto walked threw Baileys power, and destroyed Bailey.
    6. Kelson Pinto- He was 21-0 19 KO's, he beat Cotto in the amateurs, was suppose to be a tough fight. Cotto completely destroyed Pinto.
7 Lovemore N'dou- He was a rugged veteran, good test for a prospect. Looked like an off night for Cotto,he didnt really go in for the kill, i think he could have stopped N'dou if he went for it,he still won easily.
    8. Victoriano Sosa- Good fighter, came up from 135,he won his first 140 pound fight by KO by the way,he was very fast and was never hurt by Mayweather or Spadafora, Cotto destroyed Sosa.
    9. Carlos Maussa- he was 17-0 16 KO's and was suppose to be the next best thing out of Columbia, Cotto completely took him to school.
    10. Demetrio Ceballos- He was once a highly touted prospect, but fell off. Tough fight for only Cotto's 17th fight, Cotto dismantled him.

    Ricky Hatton
    1. Carlos Maussa- Already lost to Cotto and Morua, won a title but everybody knew he ****** and wasnt a great champ and that he wouldnt hold on to the belt.
2- Kostya Tszyu- Good fighter, i think he was overrated, his best win was against glass jaw Judah, and he was past his prime. But i'll admit i thought hed beat Hatton, this was a good win for him.
    3. Ray Oliveira- Decent fighter, but was deffinately past his prime.
    4. Michael Stewart- whos Michael Stewart?lol, he was a bum w/ a decent record.
    5. Carlos Vilches- Decent fighter, never beat anyone good,he still pushed Hatton to the limit,i think this would be a good fight for an up-n-comer,i think Hatton foought him to late in his career.
    6. Dennis Pederson- Bum w/ a decent record.
    7. Ben Tackie- was washed up, coming off back to back losses when Hatton beat him. Still a decent win.
    8. Aldo Rios- blown up 135 pound bum.
    9. Vince Phillips- was deffinately over the hill, was coming off a loss. Gave Hatton a run for his money in the first half, still a good win for Hatton.
    10. Joe Hutchinson- this guys a mess,and hes a joke as well,bum.

Miguel Cotto is a great fighter, hes good at countering, has decent speed, crisp combos, great power, great body attack, questionable chin, and pretty good stamina, doesnt cut.

Hatton is a good pressure fighter. Can be very wild w/ his punches. Good body attack, good chin, great stamina, bad defense, cuts easily.

    Miguel Cotto 26-0 (22 KO's)
    Ricky Hatton 40 -0 (30 KO's)

Hatton defense is underated he can box and Cottos chin is underated he just has got caught blind side when he gets wild.

Another thing worth mentioning is that they are both extremely big for 140lbs and are often bigger and stronger than there opponents. It would be interesting to see how they do against each other. It would also be interesting to see Hatton, Cotto or Castillo (a Jr. Welterweight IMHO) go against each other. Those would be really interesting fights and any of those guys fighting the other has the potential to be the FOTY.

well done and good synopsis on the two fighters and their recent records...i must admit, i do respect cotto a bit more now after reading that!..

torres is a machine and unfortunately, his running out of gas against cotto will make his career hard to materialise...as, they all saw what machine this guy is and now they won't fight him!!...

I believe Cotto would stop Hatton,

and Cotto vs Castillo is THE FIGHT at 140 if Castillo gets by Corrales in June.

as of right now, both better step up the competition level before they both get called weak.
