Comments Thread For: N'Dam-Saunders Ordered By The IBF For Vacant Title

Staying true to its word of strictly going down its list of contenders, the International Boxing Federation (IBF) has ordered a vacant middleweight title fight between Hassan N’Dam N’Jikam and unbeaten Billy Joe Saunders.

N’Dam is ranked #1 by the IBF, and already on board to fight for a vacant title, regardless of the opponent. Saunders is ranked #4 by the same sanctioning body, and will have until business close on Thursday, February 12 to accept the fight.

Saunders entered the mix after #3 ranked Felix Sturm passed on the fight Monday morning. The former four-time titlist from Germany declared his intention to instead campaign in the super middleweight division, where he will pursue a long-awaited showdown with 168 lb. titlist Arthur Abraham.

This should be a very good technical fight. I'll be supporting BJS but I think N'Dam might edge it

        Love it. :box2:

I hope Warren doesn't stop Saunders from taking this route, just because of the potential Andy Lee/WBO fight. Who cares about that. Saunders has his world title shot right here, against a hugely tough opponent, so it's finally time to go for it. He can still unify with Lee down the road anyway.

He's gonna turn it down for the WBO, I just hope he doesn't wait until Thursday so we can get this dumb train moving

It'll be a boneheaded move if he does. Quillin might beat Lee, and then hold the WBO belt hostage in the U.S. Haymon will maneuver around the mandatory somehow.

The IBF is giving Saunders a guaranteed title shot. He (or Warren) would be an idiot for not taking that.

I'm thinking how interesting it would be if Saunders passed and Lemieux gets the shot vs N'Dam. Remembering how many times Quillin knocked down N'Dam, and wondering if he'd get up when Lemieux clocks him a few. I get the idea Lemieux punches a little harder and offers a bit more pressure than Quillin. N'Dam has all fingers, toes, arms, eyes, legs, crossed right now.

50-50 fight, neither guy is really outstanding... would rather see lemeiux get a shot. BJS is a good fighter , lemieux would be more exciting though

well if you're right then maybe N'dam will pass making this even more comical. Then what? Lemieux vs Mora for the belt?
