I don't see how Murray is more of a test than Geale or Macklin. He's bigger but that's about it.

Murray is a decent, solid and apparently durable fighter who would make a tough opponent for anyone else in the division, so in that sense he's a decent scalp.

But... as a test for GGG? - No, not really IMO. I like Murray but he simply doesn't have the tools or style to bother Golovkin.

Power, footwork, timing, workrate, ring control - GGG is superior in every aspect and Murray isn't even close to having a potential equaliser like great power or moverment or blazing handspeed. Same went for Matt Macklin. Decent fighter but just without any edge over GGG to give him even a hope of winning.

TBH I will be surprised if Murray wins a single round.

Murray is by far the best man GGG has ever faced.

No one who is a boxing fan and in their right mind would call Murray GGGs biggest test, however, he is one of the best middleweights on the planet and when you can't get Cotto in the ring, you have to clear out what's left and Murray is what's left.

GGG already took Macklin and Geale. There really isn't anyone else other than Lee or Quillin. Those guys are fighting each other next and the winner will face Saunders (most likely). So GGG is fighting the best of the rest, although his fights with guys like Rubio and that midget were laughable.

However, with the WBO situation, GGG is going to be frozen out for quite a few months, so his move after Murray will be interesting.

Edit: I just remembered, isn't Jacobs something like regular WBA champ? I reckon GGG should get in there before Eubank Jr/Chudinov and "unify" the WBA (lol I know it's ridiculous).

And the IBF is vacant, which is very interesting.

He is bigger and more durable than Geale, and his resume is also better. On paper he is GGG's best test for sure.

On paper, Murray is unofficially a bigger test than Geale with two controversial decisions v Sturm (pre-Geale) and Martinez going against him.

In the ring it may be a different matter for despite an inferior MW pedigree Adama turned out to be a bigger test than Macklin.

So in short, it's a question best left to be answered after the fight. It's the fight of Murray's life, I wouldn't be surprised to see it go rounds.

N'Dam-Sturm winner (likely N'Dam) who said he intends to fight Golovkin by the end of the year.

                Who was the midget, Stevens?

Jacobs is with Haymon, since Golovkin is HBO exclusive that fight will never be made.

We don't have to wait till after the fight for supposed boxing fans to wrap themselves in their own self delusion and start to deride professional boxers from the comfort of their arm chairs.

At the first inkling that this fight might be signed Murray was being accused of cowardice. . . "Duck. He wont sign. He's shook". Despite the fact that the man is a solid professional who went to both Germany and Argentina to fight those nation's respective champions in their own back yards.

Soon as the fight was signed? Well, laugh-out-loud time. "He's gonna get folded! Idiot! Should never have signed to the fight! Who does he think he is!?!"

If he gets stopped then he'll be derided as a 'bum'. Conversely, if he lasts the distance then Golovkin will be the 'bum'. A certified 'hype-job' 'exposed' by the first real test that he faced.

It's like pantomime, but the audience have been slipped high doses of temazepam and are dribbling uncontrollably into their own laps. Unfortunately actual fight-fans are liable to get covered in spittle.

Boxing forums - make sure you pack a rain-mac folks.

GGG's run reminds me of Tyson! I believe the first guy who is not scared and decides to fight back, instead of surviving, will be the one to shock the world!

Daniel Geale remains the beset MW that Golovkin will have fought in the pro's, it's just that Golovkin's a horrible style match-up for Geale. Put Geale in with Quillin, Murray, Lee, or Lemieux and he's a live dog. He had a flat performance vs Barker, but it happens. He had a flat performance the first time he fought Mundine and completely dominated him in the rematch.

Murray is a good MW, but nothing special. Slow, mechanical, and lacks the power to keep Golovkin's respect. Murray has a better resume and fought on the bigger stage, but Adama was a better fighter. People will assume Adama is trash, but those type of people also confuse opportunity with ability.
