Kirkland had an injured shoulder. The win doesn't count.

Kirkland's a warrior for sure, but he has ZERO peripheral defense . Looping, wrap-around, uppercuts, he can't see any of that coming. Good news is that he's a guaranteed, "make me look good" opponent for the next few years. Cotto, GGG, Thurman, Porter...he'll keep getting gatekeeper fights as long as he can stay out of legal trouble.

He won't move the while fight but he'll fight smart he knows you can't stay in front of this kid for too long. Canelo doesn't have the stamina to put pressure on Cotto for 12 rounds.

Too bad he [Canelo] was able to KO an easy, injured opponent and someone else couldn't doe.

LOL, just them putting that story out there has discredited yet another Floyd win. Give it a few months, enough people will cry for a rematch so Floyd can get a second chance to do it right this time.

I agree SHO, even Kirkland's corner was screaming at him to keep his hands up!!l

As long as it lasted, What a fight!! Kellerman was right on the money when he said " If the fight last week put you to sleep, this is a fight where someone's going to sleep".

Kirkland has serious heart. The shots he took in Rd1 & 2 would have stopped most fighters on the spot. At the same time the difference in skill level was clear.

Aside from heart, Kirkland has absolutely ZERO DEFENCE plus no head movement, literally a walking punching bag. His only shot of winning was to KO Caenlo. Kirkland being a heavy-handed southpaw he had a punchers chance I guess, but that in itself was going to be extremely difficult, highly unlikely, and borderline impossible.

and What a KO by Canelo! WOW. The uppercut and right hand were DEVASTATING. BRUTAL KO!! The way Kirkland's body dropped was scary. Hope he's ok.

It was fun while it lasted but let's not get carried away. It was as significant a win as GGG-Macklin . Kirkland can't keep fighting like this, squared up along the ropes with his chin in the air is just asking to get knocked out.

It's worked for the better part of 5-years. The issue is he doesn't have elite power, nor elite chin, nor anything elite except maybe heart. But the deal is it doesn't matter how he fights because he's not at the elite level for the sport. Never was and never will be. Canelo (being elite) did what he was supposed to do with Kirkland (who is not elite.) He did what alot of other guys who aren't elite could not do. Finish him off. Yes, Ishida was able to finish him but that was a one off. Angulo, Tapia, Molina, etc couldn't finish him and that's what separates Canelo from the B, C level guys.

And by the way, I gave you some green K for the GIF in my sig, thank you as I was looking for that since as soon as the KO happened last night and I couldn't find it on my own.

After Mayweather-Pacquiao we need more big fights to follow up.

Please Sugar Ray Robinson, GIVE US COTTO-CANELO.

I didn't mean in terms of effectiveness because despite his flaws a lot of guys can't deal with his strength and power. But in terms of his safety and longevity, he's already slurring his words and he's not gonna last that much longer if he can't defend himself. He doesn't have to reinvent himself but just learn to tuck his chin in and start rolling with punches.
