WBC super middleweight champion Anthony Dirrell has received approval, from the World Boxing Council, to make a voluntary defense before facing mandatory challenger George Groves. The information was revealed by Sauerland Event, who promote Groves.

"WBC boxing voted in favor of a four month extension for a voluntary defense. No opponent or explanation given as yet. We will be putting out a public statement next week."

I don't feel sorry for Groves because I don't even know how in the blue hell is he a mandatory already just after two "keep busy" fights from his loss to Froch. It's alright if he has to wait a little, the guy had two title shots in the last two years.

Dirrell would have been better to fight Groves now while he's looking vulnerable. He could end up fighting a rested and rejuvenated version of the Saint.

Nah, it's not a fact yet. They THINK that the voluntary will be Badou Jack. BUt they don't know.
