WBC/WBA welterweight and junior middleweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (47-0, 26KOs) already has backup plan in place - if the ongoing negotiations to make a fight with WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao fall apart.

Stephen Espinoza, the top man at Showtime Sports, says Mayweather is fighting on May 2nd at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas - with or without Pacquiao. The Filipino star is Mayweather's first option, but Espinoza says there are two others. If the Pacquiao fight falls through, then top welterweight contender Amir Khan would become an option and so would WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto.

Not smart. The public backlash for floyd going with khan or COTTO would be a nightmare for everybody at showtime. Casuals are turned off bad,and the hardcore boxing fans are restless and annoyed. A rematch with cotto would not pay dividends to showtime especially with what floyd brings in for himself. There is no other option for floyd but manny. None what's so ever.

Sometimes perception is reality, so even if its not his fault, he will be blamed. Most media reports make Floyd look bad in regards to this fight, doesn't matter that he might be trying to really make it happen behind the scenes. I'm actually ok with a khan fight, definitely don't want to see cotto again though.
