How so? Genuinely, let's look at this objectively - he was comfortably winning on the cards, Byrd never had the power to hurt him. If you disagree, please explain in what way Byrd showed he had better skills or enough to beat Vitali without a freak injury intervening?

How did Byrd show he could hurt or beat Vitali? The very FACT that Vitali *never* pursued a rematch tells me *everything* I need to know. The fact is, Byrd was CLOWNING Vitali in the second half of that fight and made him look BAD then made him QUIT.

Who's to know what happened behind the scenes. I've already explained to you that Vitali would have gladly fought Byrd in his next fight, but he did not recover quickly enough from the shoulder damage and Wlad stepped in...if anything after that it was Byrd who didn't want the rematch because he knew he got a lucky win and wouldn't win a rematch. Both went their separate ways...in terms of going for different titles. Vitali's early retirement put paid to any hopes of having the rematch at a later date.

You can look at the situation in the way you want, everyone's got their own opinions...

So, you have intimate knowledge of what goes on in the Klitschko camp? I guess you were also there when the fight was negotiated, right?

The Klitschkos were the tag team HW champions for YEARS.

So now you're a mind reader?

Why would Byrd refuse a big money rematch of a fight he won by TKO?

          Klittard "logic" at it's finest.

Vitali DUCKED the Byrd rematch because Chris figured out Dr Robotonic and would have CLOWNED him even worse the second time around...

            1. Educated guess - it seems a bit obvious that you would want to avenge your first career loss straight away, especially against someone you have proven you are a better all-round fighter than.

            2. Tag team? The **** are you on - I'm stating a FACT. Wlad took the fight as Vitali was not recovered from injury. Don't know what you are trying to imply, but that's just the fact of what happened...simple as.

            3. You're an idiot - you call me a fanboy when you are biased hater disregarding what I say but coming back with your biased b/s. No wonder you're in the red. Why would he refuse a rematch? Maybe because he got dominated by Vitali on a bad night and got knocked around the ring by Wlad, and rather wanted to make even more money fighting ancient Holyfield, rather than having 2 beatdowns (3 you could even say) in a row.

            4. If losing 7 of 8 rounds to an injured fighter while doing some bobbing and weaving and not really mounting any sort of meaningful offence is 'clowning', then i'm sure a fighter can live with that. Only person Byrd clowned was himself by making himself believe he actually won the fight on merit, but that was quickly knocked out of him in his very next fight v Wlad.

Shame the rematch didn't happen, but any objective fan who have knowledge of the background will understand it was just one of those fights that didn't get made...but if you really think that was a duck, you're a hater pure and simple. I'm done discussing this topic, pointless old argument anyway.

I said Vitali was the better fighter, not that he has the better resume.

And it was proven that he was.
